I am satisfied with my new T61. The only thing that makes me uncomfortable is everytime when I turn on the computer or re-log on my account, the LCD has a less than one second black out during the computer is loading the start-up programs. It's very short, but annoying. Except that everytime is very good.
Does anyone here have the same problem? How do you solve it?

This happens to me once in a while, but it never bothered me. I think its a vista related issue. lets see what happens when the service pack comes out next week :)

I've got this same issue. Here's hoping either driver updates or Vista Service Packs in the future fix the problem.

Perhaps it is Vista update related then.

This is not due to Vista. It is related to the computer itself. My T60 runs on Windows XP and it does that. At first I was told / thought it was due to my X1400's PowerPlay feature and changing refresh rates on my LCD - however that is not the case as I have tried everything to get rid of it. I think it has to do with the Power Manager perhaps... as it has the ability to control your display as well. Note that if you try starting up in Safe Mode (where the Power Manager doesn't load), it doesn't flicker.

Oh well, I've gotten used to it. My flicker is barely noticeable now since I've tried to do everything to make my computer lean on load and high on resources.

EDIT: I would dare to even say that if you removed the Power Manager it might fix it. However I still use Power Manager and think it's usefulness outweighs the little flicker.

I get the same flicker issue but when I am on battery and only when my battery life is below 50% so I think this issue is correlated with the power manager (at least in XP).

Power Manager is responsible, I'm sure of it. My computer boots up with full brightness but after the flicker, the screen's brightness lowers to the setting I have it on in Power Manager. Not to mention, only after the flicker does the battery life gauge show up on the Start bar. That's just how the program works, and you should suck it up as it doesn't even cause problems.

Another question related to LCD blink....
Sometime when I start a program or delete some files or program short-cuts, Vista just pop out a window and let me choose "continue" or "cancel" while when this window poping out, the LCD blinks once and the background dims..
I guess it is normal, but really don't like it.
Do you have the same blink while deleting something.

I also vote for the Power Manager being at fault - I observe the screen blanking when the PM gauge finally shows up after a boot or a wake up.

For those who are not using PM, are you sure you're not using it? That is, you have done a clean Windows install and then made sure not to restore the PM?

I have found out the reasons. If you disable the Plug and Play service from msconfig, it will never blink again. However, when I disable this service, I have difficulty in audio functions...Did anyone can give the right solution?
