When I try to to open an image using photoshop I get this error (only a recent thing):
The monitor profile “Lenovo Thinkpad LCD monitor” appears to be defective. Please re-run your monitor calibration.

    Then it says:
Unable to continue because of a hardware or system error

And it closes. But then i can retry opening the image and it works fine. The monitor always works fine (14" widescreen T61), but not great. I'm sure I got one of the crappy ones because its really not very good. But that is beside the point. What do I do to fix this problem? How do I re-run calibration? Thanks!

I got the same error and just created a new profile in Adobe.

The re-run calibration go the the Control Panel, and locate the Adobe Gamma link and follow the instructions.

I get this issue too with photoshop. I usually just click on Use Anyways and then I can do my mild editing.

I got the same error with photoshop. I chose to use another profile that came preloaded on my machine. It is one of the "WCS" profiles. After I made it the default profile, I no longer get the error in photoshop. Also, my screen's colors look better, in the sense that colors seem to be richer and more saturated, but I doubt they are very accurate in the photographic sense. I haven't tried doing any photo editing with this color profile enabled yet. I just noticed that when I open photoshop, I no longer get that error message about the corrupt color profile after changing the default profile.

How do you change the profile in Vista and re-run the calibration?

Open Control panel then open color management, and you can see profiles. For calibration is good use a calibration software.
