I am facing one really interesting problem in connecting notebook Thinkpad R500 and LCD monitor HP2275w via displayport. Everything works perfectly except for!!! When I configure this setup (in Presentation Director or Ati Catalist Control Center) way that only external monitor is ON, namely HP, it gets turned off by itself and moreover frequently. Actually it is not OFF just dark screen, during a period of 2 - 3 seconds and then it goes ON again. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8GC2QIBBu0 When browsing internet, e.g. Youtube all this is even more frequent, as well as during one game which I am playing time by time - Quake 3 Arena. It also happened to me, that I received an error message, and even BSOD! When using diferent modes for connecting this monitor (e.g. adjusting desktop settings to add external monitor or screen clonning) I dont have such a problem. Unfortunately I want to use just this mode, when the lid of the notebook is closed and I am working just with external monitor. Due to these problems, this is still impossible.

Thank you very much for any suggestion in advance.

Get a display port to DVI adapter. Other users and myself have reported that the HP monitors of the LP series (which I assume you are using) have iffy displayport. Using a displayport to DVI from the docking station or notebook has worked.

I bought HP LP2275w because this monitor has displayport as well as my notebook Lenovo R500. It was the reason why I did not buy a docking station and saved money. Where do you think is the problem? At Lenovo's side or at HP? Do you have any experience, with non-HP displays with displayport? Do they have same problems using displayport?

I think it is on HP's side simply because it works fine with the adapter...it is still the same digital signal for video...

I have not tried another monitor with displayport, but all the issuesI've seen on this forum has either been my monitor or yours.

And you really bought the monitor because it just has displayport <.<? The displayport on the thinkpads can't do any audio so it is really just a digital video signal like DVI. But anyways if you've already tired playing around with settings...then try the adapter.

How is your external monitor (HP LP2275w) connected ? From ThinkPad X200 UltraBase - output displayport on HP LP2275w - DVI input, OK? When you connect ThinkPad X200 UltraBase - output displayport on HP LP2275w -displayport input work bad (classic displayport-displayport cable)?

My lp 2475w is connected to my x200 ultrabase via a displayport to dvi adapter...then a dvi cable into the monitor.

Yes I am saying that displayport did not function. I am using an adapter as I have mentioned.

My problem is solved! I did complaint about my monitor. I got new monitor with last revision SPG224 (OSD menu SPG082). Monitor probably has new firmware and screen does not blackout.
