How can I verify that I have an LED backlit screen on my T400?

    Hello,

What is the type and serial number of your T400, and what resolution size screen do you have - 1280x800 (WXGA) or 1440x900 (WXGA+)?

You should be able to do a warrantly lookup and there, a parts lookup, to discover the main parts for your thinkpad.

thanks Alvin, but still unsure. My type is 2764 CTO with S/N L3B8592. When I look at the warranty info, it just says Lenovo LCD screen, but is it LED backlit?? I looked up the part numbers given, and no more detail.

My resolution is 1280 x something, and I did order the LED, but it just does not quite look right.

After a bit of searching on the web, I found the part number; it looks like the screen part number (42T0581) is actually a CCFL backlit and a very cheap screen (less than $100). This really p***es me off that they would try to slip this to me with the hope I might not notice.

If you ordered it with LED you should give support a call.

Edited later: OK after reading this again I found my LCD

42T0691 42T0692 14.1 INCH LCD DISPLAY FRU NO

Professor, how did you find the info. I looked in the regestry it says LGD0190 in monitor properties. I got it today and this supposedly LED LCD is not much better than my old n cheap Acer 5580 LCD. How can it be?

I know there may be high pitch invertor noise if it's not a LED, do not want to dismantle it yet just to find out... Please advise, people

Who told you this? I think it is completely the opposite. I have a Samsung LCD HDTV and their LED TV and the LED TV is wayyyyyyy cooler.
