After setting up a build for my sister's laptop she will be taking with her to Belgium, I double checked the IWS on that laptop model. Currently none of the T61 models offer *any* international service. CTO T60 models have a super limited country selection, like Canada, japan, etc. My 20077ju T60 can be worked on in like 100+ countries, as well as the cheap as dirt C100.

Am I missing something here? Are there secret models non-custom models that might offer IWS for the new T61 models to get basic service in Belgium if something breaks? This is a big deal breaker if this is true, as HP is the next in line with something from their business line.

The T61 does not come with IWS (except for certain pre-negotiated contracts, eg. IBM and education contracts). But you can purchase it separately by calling Lenovo and they will connect you to someone who can assist with that.

Most of the T60's have some or full international coverage. When thinkpads were IBM, every thinkpad made included a global warranty for at least 3 years. Sigh.

Wouldn't happen to have any idea on its price purchased separately? I was thinking it might have been related to some repair locations not being trained or stocked to repair some models.

No, i think it's to cheapen the price.

I have no idea of the cost of IWS from lenovo. Call the sales center, they cannot tell you directly but they can forward you to folks who can tell you. You're gonna wanna a price quote get the info from them for your machine order/quote anyway.

If you find out, post back, I'd be interested to know how much. I'm expecting it's not cheap.

Interesting to know, makes sense to reduce prices though.

I remember the T60s were in the high 1000s to low 2000s with a pretty standard configuration so seeing them all down in the low 1000s is great and if the IWS was one of the things holding the price high, I am happy it can be removed (since I and I assume many do not really need it).

It couldnt have been much at all, considering my C100 that was sub 500 had it included.

Also go figure that right when I want to place the order, I get this error

" (Our Systems are experiencing heavy volumes. Please resubmit the order after a short time.)" :(

Did you saw the 3 years RTD international on Lenovo's laptop configurator?

So, if I decide to purchase the laptop trough Euclid Computers for use in Europe, I should then check if that specific laptop can be purchased with IWS directly from Lenovo?

Anyone knows if the IWS can be purchased from other sources other than Lenovo much like the extension and onsite plans?

You can get T61 with IWS. The configurable T61 (directly from Lenovo's site) does not have IWS. Neither had the T60 configured from Lenovo's site.

One has to buy pre-configured systems to get IWS. Look at the type number and check with Lenovo's Warranty Site.
T61 types with IWS in Europe that I know of are: 7663 and 7659 (from Euclid's Computers).
    T60 types with IWS in Europe that I know of are: 1951, 1952, 2007, 2008, 8741, 8742 and 6369.

Thanks. I'll keep an eye on Euclid Computers web site for the new T61 15.4" and check ibm's web site to see if that particular model is covered by IWS.
