One little pixel is bothering you like that?
I have my doubts that Lenovo would do anything over one little pixel. I also hope that you realize this isn't Lenovo's fault.
Ever tried searching NBR and looking at the countless number of threads dedicated to the topic? Ones like this one that I quite easily found? -
In my opinion I wouldn't even bother trying to get that fixed. You won't notice it after a while anyways.

I know it's not Lenovos fault it just happens. But I just spent $2,600 on a laptop and in less than a week it has a stuck pixel way wouldn't I get it fixed?
-
You mean that stucked pixel wasn't there initially?
-
I'd feel just the same way.
-
If it's a stuck pixel, then it's very possible that you can run some programs to get rid of it or just massage it away.
-
I tried massaging it way and I am pretty sure it sa stuck pixle because no matter what I do it is red. Arkit3kt what programs ar eyou talking about I have never heard of any that can fix pixles? (definetly will try though)
@morphy I am 99.99% sure that it is new I was whatching a movie when it caught my eye -
That sucks.
I would not be pleased as well.
Use your warranty if you have too.
I almost used my warranty on an LCD HDTV after I noticed a few irregular pixels. However after a few days they went away. Not sure what happend.
I hope your display gets well. -
If its new you stand a good chance of fixing it. Try a software util first like this one ( http://www.jscreenfix.com/basic.php) before resorting to manually fix it by massaging or sending it in. Will need to run that applet for a few hrs.
-
I'll have to try that program tomarrow I am importing my Itunes library right now and it still had 9hrs to go!
-
It doesnt take much to run...my desktop monitor developed a stuck pixel and that util managed to fix it. Runs best on Firefox. Resize the window so it only covers the area around the pixel.
-
Try this little tool --it may help you. Note --you'll want to run it for awhile. It cycles through all the colors, and can sometimes revive stuck pixels.

Is this issue only present in TFT technology? In other words, would someone who opts not to include TFT when placing his or her Thinkpad order have to worry about this issue?
-
SpacemanSpiff Everything in Moderation
Certain Thinkpads (usually the T p models) once had Flexview (IPS) as an option, but this is no longer available on the T61.
As to whether stuck or dead pixels are more or less common on IPS screens, that I don't know. -
well IPS is still TFT. TFT just means its active matrix as opposed to passive matrix which is pretty much non existant. Most lcds now are TFT, even the LED backlit ones are also TFT. Even if there's an option to opt for non TFT you'll be far worse off.

Well I have called Lenovo and the guy said I have to have 8 dead pixles befor my screen is "defective" I still complined seeing as I got the laptop less than a week ago and therw is already a stuck pixle. I am waiting on a call abck from a supervisor right now 20-45min so I am expecting 1-2hrs befor they call me (If they call me). I hate having to argue with people but I just think its dumb to need 8 dead or stuck pixles for a screen to be defective. It like saying your screen isn't defective "enough" for it to cause you a problem. I'll give an update after I talk to the supervisor.
-
Amazing I got a call back in less than 10min.
Well the service department can't do anything but I am going to call sales on monday and they are going to send a whole new laptop out since it is still under 21day warranty.
This is pretty dumb it would take a whole 5min to change the screen but no they can't do that it's against policy.
Policy sucks! -
I think you got a pretty good deal
-
Wow, they are considering sending out a whole new laptop for 1 stuck pixel? That is a really good deal. You must be really convincing.
I've read about people who get completely dead laptops or other issues and they are told to turn it in to warranty. -
That's what I thought too...very unusual for a big company to do that for 1 dead pixel. I might expect that from independant resellers like XoticPC but either way you got a really good deal.
-
He did spend a lot of money on it especially with the top warranty.
-
I am chating with sales right now (well I'm on hold) but it seems like I am getting a whole new T61p!
-
It will be replaced, but what if the new one will have a dead pixel too? Or even worse, several of them.
-
Well I am getting a NEW Lenovo ThinkPad T61p!!!!! HoRaY
Now I have to get rid of all the bloatware, install all my programs and switch the RAM again Oh well.
Don't you put that curse on me rookie4real! Don't you put that curse on me! -
-
Nice!
Can I ask how you approached them?
Mine came with a known issue where I can't play any games if both RAM slots are used and they told me I have to send it in for warranty or return it with a 15% restocking fee. I asked about a swap and they said no -

The Fire Snake Notebook Virtuoso
-
I guess I am good at complaining
-
Congrats on getting them to send you a new laptop. Hopefully it won't have any dead or stuck pixels. Do you have a backup plan if it does though? Heck what if it has more?
