I am the process of (possibly) purchasing a t61p 15" within the next few days. However, since this laptop is going to function as a desktop replacement for me, I am interested in getting a laptop stand so that I can use it with a desktop set up, and to have less heating problems, and that kind of thing. I'm not sure if I'm going to use an external monitor with it (I already have one now, and then would just run the laptop with it closed) but I digress

Anyways, what I am asking is, are there any users of thinkpads or general lenovo laptops that have used them on a laptop stand? If so, what sort of stand have you used/are you using, and what would you recommend to get for something like my purposes. I'm not looking to spend too much money (as I'll have spent a fair bit on the laptop that I'm getting), but I don't want to skimp out on something that would fall apart and/or break the laptop.

The setting that the laptop would be in, is in a college dorm on a desk if that changes any thing.

    I need the discrete graphics.

anyways, I did not ask laptop recommendations here, but rather recommendations for stands that work good with whatever thinkpads and/or lenovos that you people have

I'm not sure which kind of stand you are looking to get. One that sits on the floor or the desktop?

    Let's keep things on topic.

Look at one of the port replicators form Lenovo. I use the Advanced Mini Dock and it's awsome. When I'm at my desk, my LCD monitor, network, speakers, keyboard/mouse, everything plugs into the dock. So the laptop is closed and works like a desktop. When I want to go elsewhere, I just eject it from the dock without having to unplug all the cables. It's great!
