When I say extremely slowly, I mean slower than what you think. It charges like 3% per hour when the laptop is turned off, and when it's on the battery just goes down.
It all started after my brother connected loudspeakers to my laptop. When he did that, my laptop smelled like it's burning so I turned it off and a few days later I opened it and cleaned the fan from inside (that's where the smell came from) and I also took the battery off to check if the smell comes from there. After that, it didn't smell anymore but the battery problem has started, and it's already been 2 weeks without any change in the situation.
Is there anything I can do beside paying to a proffesional to fix it?

    Welcome to the forum!

Knowing which laptop exactly is being discussed here would help quite a bit...

It could be something short circuted and draining all the power, try to check if the laptop power supply is supplying its maximum power,

if the computer is turned off, and charging is like you say, 3% per hour, then the power supply should remain cool because it is not doing anything, if it is getting hot, that means something else is wasting power

    Thanks! Lenovo G770.
Yes, it stays cool. How can I check if the laptop power supply is supplying its max power?
