    Hi,

My T61P died a few days ago. I didn't have any luck bringing it back up. I thought I would be able to recover the data by removing the hd and putting it in a 2.5 inch enclosure but was a little disappointed when I took out the drive to see that it had a different type of connection than what my enclosure took. The enclosure I have takes the kind of drives that uses pins as connectors. This one is a bit different. I have a pic of it here:

Anybody know the name of this type of connection so I can buy an enclosure for it?

I checked Lenovo's site and found this:

    Will that work for it?

it should, but 45 bucks is kinda pricy for something that'll go for 20 or less on newegg.

Is that the original drive that came from Lenovo with your T61p? It should just be a SATA drive. When I upgraded my harddrive I went from a Fujitsu 80GB 5400rpm drive(came with my machine) to a Hitachi 200GB drive and put the Fujitsu drive in a Vantec external enclosure. It works fine in this external exclosure. I think any SATA 2.5" enclosure should work for you.

I recommend this enclosure. I have it for my Thinkpad and it works awesome. Want to know the best part? It is matte black and matches the Thinkpad almost perfectly.
