What's a good, reliable, large capacity HD that will fit into the x220?

I have an mSata SSD for OS and programs, but could use more capacity for data files than my 320gb.

Is there any 500gb or larger HD that will fit in the X220 other than that Hitachi?

If the Seagate 7mm line doesn't include a 500GB unit (and I don't believe it does [yet?]), I'm afraid you're out of luck... I don't think any other manufacturer (besides Hitachi and Seagate) is currently making 7mm mechanical drives.

    EDIT:

    Awesome reference, btw.

The Seagate 7mm line only goes up to 320GB at this time. Plus, the Seagate slim drives are generally hard to find.

There is a rather active thread that discusses the various attempts at "fitting" 9mm drives into X220 and T420s. I'm afraid my mechanical skill level is too low for such work. I would turn to portable USB-powered drives.

I have the 500GB Hitachi. It's good enough for storage. It runs fairly quiet too.
