At a grand total of $1,761.30(includes tax, free shipping to Canada) for this ThinkPad W530, would you say go? Wish the price was a little lower, but that price is from a quote, and includes the current ecoupon code, so I don't think I can haggle it down much. I'll be making the call on Saturday, so we'll see how it goes.

I say no go.
$1765.94 after tax (Ontario), same specs as what you have but with TPP. -
.....how? That makes no sense whatsoever...My quote says the thinkpad totals $1,804 and the warranty totals $115, and I get $360 off....also, I guess he screwed up my quote, cause I'm getting the backlit keyboard. Just noticed that now.
Teach me the ways. What are you doing that I'm not? I'm even on the Student site! EDIT: Think it has something to do with the UltraNav Fingerprint and stuff. Looking at our carts, Thats the only difference.
These are my results:

Even with the coupon code, you should still be able to haggle with the price. I was able to use the Barnes and Noble discount, email promotion, and haggling to get 24% off of my Thinkpad. Go ahead and try, see what you can get.
For reference, I got my W520 (with 3yr TPP) for USD$1665 before taxes. Since you're not upgrading to the K2000M, I'd expect your W530 to cost less than that. -
kirayamoto helped me find the SPC card site which brings my cost (before taxes) down to $14xx.xx which I probably won't be able to haggle. Unfortunately the coupon code I used to get it to that price has disappeared. Hopefully one pops up tomorrow.
-
I'd say that ~$1400 is a good price for your configuration, considering that the base W530 is just USD$1300 (and iirc, there's a slightly price hike for Canada). Either wait for the coupon again, or maybe ring up and ask if you could still have the discount applied ("I *just* missed the deadline" or something creative I suppose). The worse that could happen is they say no.
-
Well I can't order until Saturday anyway due to my parents credit card stuff, and last time a coupon ran out, there was only one day that there was no coupons, so I'm assuming one will be available tomorrow. Otherwise, probably one on monday,
-
Ah, credit cards. That's how I got mine haha... Wasn't comfortable using my debit card online for an almost $1770 (total) purchase! Completely understand.
-
Reason we're waiting, we live in Canada, Canadian Tire has a gas bar. Put +$2000 on a Canadian Tire credit card, get 10 cents/litre off for that month. Credit card bill comes in tonight or tomorrow, so my mom makes me wait so she can get cheap gas
Plus it keeps the money in my bank for another month gaining interest, so win/win.
I don't have a credit card of my own yet, but I'll be getting one probably this month. I'll be using mine to buy this Corsair RAM(or maybe this Mushkin RAM...thoughts?), HDD Caddy, Slimline SATA to USB for the (originally internal) Optical Drive, and a Mini-DP > HDMI adapter, right off the bat. -
My family and I have a discount card for a local grocery store that gives us "Fuel Perks", basically the same concept as your Canadian Tire gas bar. Always good to get cheap gas.
I have aftermarket Mushkin RAM installed in my laptop (8 out of the 12GB) and had no issue with it. RAM is RAM is RAM, get whichever is cheaper. There's a slight difference between 1333MHz and 1600MHz, but anything beyond that is just burning money for fire's sake. As for the caddy, I have a NewModeUS version that works great (and it's 12.7mm height!
), but it's also on the pricey side (~USD$50). I've hear good things about eBay caddies, but I've never tried one myself because I personally refuse to use that site (due to PayPal).
-
Got a link? Is it the same one i linked to? Because thats only $25. Or go USB 3.0 for the same price.
-
I was referring to their W520 HDD caddy.
I bought a Samsung external DVD burner for myself, but only because I wasn't aware of NewModeUS selling the SATA-to-USB connector
-
Ah. As much as I don't like eBay, I'm gonna need it as cheap as possible. Looks promising, and everybody on these forums links to this one from eBay, so it can't be that bad
.
I was thinking about just buying an external, but if I use the original drive, I won't lose it if I ever want to put it back in, i.e. reselling it in a few years, and I can assume it won't have compatibility issues. -
I had to use bank transfer to get my T61 in 2007. I put in a wrong number somewhere.... got the money back two weeks later.
-
Where did you guys find that coupon for the CA site? visa perks? (it still only has CAXVISABTS2012 which doesn't work for the w530)
Im guessing the one you used has expired already? )= -
lenovo.com/spccard/ca but the coupon disappeared, I haven't even used it yet. If you're having problems accessing the site, clear your browser cookies and cache.

CAP3DAYSALE gets my configuration to $1,364 before taxes. I'm ordering tonight. Any last thoughts?
-
Yep: have fun with it
You're getting your configuration much cheaper than what I was able to do with my W520 haha.
-
I will, don't you worry
It's evencheaper than the last ecoupon(just a weekly, CAXWEEK0705, with lenovo.com/spccard/ca) by almost $100, so I'm pretty happy. And surprised, didn't think it was possible to go this low.
