Last silly question from this new T400 owner.

The last time I upgraded a laptop hard drive, I just mirrored the current drive to the new one, and started using the new one. No problem (except the usual Windows announcement of new hardware/have to reboot again).

Does anyone here see an advantage to installing Windows again using the recovery media, as opposed to just mirroring? Anyone have any trouble with one or the other methods?

    Clean install is recommended.

I actually had some trouble using my restore disks (took forever and eventually just stalled) when I swapped drives on my x200 Tablet. I ended up just putting both drives in my desktop and mirroring them. This was much faster and I have had no issues.

I would only advise a clean install if you want to get rid of the Thinkvantage software (although I recommend that you keep it).
