So lead_org, is there something substantial behind this thread or is it just a bunch of social media BS? If Lenovo really had a new ThinkPad in production and ready for sale, what is holding them back now? The Apple launch event was 3/9 so there's no getting caught up in their news cycle now.

Or did I miss an announcement?

    Thanks,

    Thor

Exactly. Skylake will be released in a few months time and the full Broadwell line-up is not out yet either.

Patience may be prudent, except that the title of this very thread and the comments from lead_org indicated that word of this product should have been out some time ago. It's perfectly reasonable to question why that hasn't happened.

Always been a fan of the old Thinkpad design, up to the T530,
The only thing that could always improve, is being lighter and thinner,

I prefer the dull dark grey simple look over any of the new shiny silver/colorful/white laptops.

But anyway, the look of the laptop is not something I worry that much about, most laptops looks are acceptable with the exception if it was like Red or Green or flashy.

I think green has very much potential, but you need to get it right. The Toshiba NB550D is a great example of how green can make a notebook (or in this case netbook) look awesome, at least IMO.

Chances are that the official announcement for this machine will be made next Wednesday, April 1st. ;)

    Obviously the latter.

Not surprisingly the OP has avoided the thread ever since. Haha.

If you care to actually read the first post, you'll see I only posted information available from another place.

It seems the only one able to give any more information would be lead_org.

My sincere apologies, I wrongly thought 'lead_org' was the OP. It's been ages since the thread was created.

You're far from being the only one in that respect.

Having said that, I'd suggest curbing one's enthusiasm until the fox is finally out of the hole, if we live long enough to see that one happen...

I feel it a bit odd that lead_org would trumpet big Thinkpad news and suddenly disappear. He is an established member here on NBR and has been a major contributor in Thinkpad threads as well. Hope he is doing fine!

    As do I.

Having said that, it's the "upcoming" ThinkPad that may or may not be doing well, judging by what we've seen so far.

Maybe this mysterious wonder machine, destined to fulfill the wildest dreams of all die hard Thinkpad traditionalists, has finally been perceived by Lenovo as an inherent threat for the sale of their current crippl^H^H^enhanced run of the mill Thinkpads?

Or maybe there was never even such a machine in the pipeline, and the whole thread is a joke thanks to baseless rumours pulled out of nowhere?

Accusing @lead_org of lying? You do know he is a long present member here, and a guru when it comes to ThinkPads? And that he for example knew about the move to Chiclet keyboards months before it was made (since he was invited by Lenovo into their headquarter in Beijing)? Isn´t that a bit harsh? I mean, he did want to inform you about something positive I guess...which didn´t happen until now, but may happen in the future.

I guess people are not used to wait a bit and be patient...no, its better to start pointing fingers on a long time and well known member^^ I guess there are reasons for lead_orgs absence and the silence about this that you may not know? ;)

My guess is that most people around here have a problem with the fact that "this week" was two months ago...

While that may very well be the case, lead_org would've done his own reputation a favour - in my opinion, that is - by coming back and posting *something* that would explain how one week turned into months...

Not that I personally care, for two reasons:

    a) I still see him as my friend

    b) Whatever Lenovo decides - or not - to surprise us with I won't be buying anyway.

No. Our friend did a lot more than just post a rumour that he had heard.

His recent silence on the subject matter has been puzzling a lot of people.
