I'm trying to play left4dead on my T61 which has a nVidia Quadro 140M, but I keep getting this "cannot render D3D error".

Their troubleshooting guide says to upgrade my drivers, which are the latest (from Lenovo) or try some launch commands off the .exe file... which fail to work.

Has anyone else run into this problem with gaming? If so, do you know a solution?

Please help... I must kill zombies! :(

    I figured it out.

Run game in windowed then set the resolution.

Must be an initial memory leak or something.

Hope this can be of use to someone searching for it thru google or something~!

I'm also running a Quadro 140M and got the same error(almost!) when playing l4d demo. I set my max resolution, -w 1280 -h 800 in the advance launch options and it works.

This was the thread and solution I posted earlier in the l4d forums: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=748993

So after several hours of looking around I figured out what worked for me. I right clicked on L4D>properties>set launch options...>and typed in "-1280 -h 800" (minus quotes) Good Luck!~= :)
