I left it inside of my trunk in -15 degree. I parked my car outside of a restaurant while enjoying hotpot and chatting with my friends.
then I drove home, immediately took it out and turned it on, then realized the laptop was freezing cold, and gathered lots of moisture on the screen, so I immediately turned it off...until it warmed up...
do you think I damaged my laptop this way?

left it outside for about 4-5 hours

Just to make this clear... You turned the laptop back on after it warmed back up to room temperature? Does it operate normally now?

If your X220 has a HDD then that is the most vulnerable component - the minimum rated operating temperature is usually around 0C / 32F. However, as your computer started then it shows that the HDD (if you have one) wasn't frozen up. Possibly because the computer in the bag in the car would not have cooled down to the outside temperature and would have still be within the rated operating range.

should be alright, i have used the X220 in negative 20 degrees celsius weather during my recent trip.

The military certificate they have "guarantee" down to -4F or -20C.
During my military service (Sweden) so did all the equipment (computers, cameras etc.) work without any problem at -31F or -35C. The tanks, and all it's electronics (computers, radios etc.), where built to operate in even -58F or -50C. -
I would let it dry for a day or so in a bag of rice if indeed there was heavy moisture. might cause the internal components to short out.

oh, the x220 seems working fine ... I am just have this little worry at the back of my mind...just wondered if it damaged but I don't know
wonder if other laptops could say the same
Left X220 in -15 degree
