My T61's left button (at the edge of the laptop) is loose. Sometimes it would be so loose that it seems it would come off (but not yet). Can I buy a part (the button) and replace it by myself? How to do that? (this is out of warranty)

You can pick up a palm rest pretty cheap. Post over in the Marketplace forum on ThinkPads.com that you're looking for one.
