    Hi ,

I have recently purchased Lenova 3000N100 model note book.
I have created the rescue and back disk (7 in count). But i lost the CD's.
when i try to redo the same , it is creating Rescue and Recovery Disk only. When i checked in the lenova care , it was said that it can be done only once and in case of any breakage or loss please contact the IBM call center. I did the same but they were not responding correctly. Can any one please tell me how to create the Complete set of recovery disc's.

Do to licensing restrictions, you are only allowed to make one set of backup CD's. I suggest calling Lenovo and discuss with them your situation. I believe that for a nominal sum, you can purchase the recovery disks from them.

Within the first 21 days (30 in canada) after invoicing a new laptop, Lenovo will send you recovery disks for free if you call and request that.

Ah, recovery discs are $45. Hateful policy.

yesterday i talked to Lenova care center people and explained the same. After a few call transfers and discussions ,they said that try to restore the laptop to factory settings and you will be able to fire the CD's again. What do u say..? will it work..

I made the CDs and there were six, while I was expecting seven (a co-worker told me)!

How can I make sure my CDs are OK?

Best method is to restore your computer with them.

Also, another thing many overlook is quality of the media used. Sony, verbatim, etc would be much better choices than Office Depot brand or some other generic form.

I think you are fine. I just did mine (R60) and it came to be total of 6 disks. There was no problem with the program, and it said that it successfully created recovery discs... I am not worried.

FWIW, the program that creates the disks also verifies that they read correctly, and it's not just for show, as it spit out one of mine telling me it didn't burn right, so I ended up using 7 disks. :p

When I get my laptop...hopefully at the end of the month, should I call Lenovo and ask for a recovery CD asap, within the 21 day period? I should get this for free? I can then also make my own backup as well?

I bought my Thinkpad about 2 months ago and haven't made ANY backup recovery disks as of yet. In searching through the various menus in ThinkVantage, I can't find any links to do this process.

Can anyone point me to the menu that does this operation?

    Thanks

I saw several posts about being requesting recovery disks from Lenovo for free within 21(us)/30(canada) days of purchase.

I just called today, they told me that they don't send out anything for free. The only way I can get the recovery disks from them is either my hard drive is damaged or I am upgrading to a new hard drive through Lenovo.

    Could anyone verify?
I called Lenovo Canada twice. Got the same result.

horsepuckey! I have pretty effortlessly had Lenovo send me two freaking sets of discs. I think the key is not to ask for the discs per se, but rather for something else. I called asking for an xp home disc, she sent the recovery discs. I called a week ago (month after I got my Lenovo btw) and asked why the lenovo scheduler is preventing me from changing my homepage from ww.lenovo.com/3000/buy_our_junk. He INSISTED he send me recovery discs.
I'm convinced thats all they can do in Atlanta.
