    I have a lenovo 3000 N100 for about 2 years ....
It worked really fine for the 1st yr .....

A few months back ,it started giving out smoke (seemed to be coming from the connector between the Lcd and the board) after continuous use of >3-4hrs .I used to power off manually by holding the power button and it used to start again perfectly after given a rest of an hour or so

But now the backlight is completely gone .....the display still is there but no backlight making it non-readable...

I opened up the Lcd cover to find the Lcd cable ( joining the board with the lcd ) burnt .... ...

Has anyone of you encountered this before and is the LCD cable easily replacable ... :(

Have you tried contacting Lenovo about the issue? Are you still under warranty? Maybe they can sell you a separate LCD cable.
