    Hi,

Couple of days before I bought Lenovo 3000 Y500 776136Q notebook. I am not happy with this product as it is generating lot of heat around the keyboard and touch pad. Does anyone experienced the same issue with this model? Please respond.

    Cheers,
    Kabeesh.

    hi,

your msg was very timely for me. i was on a lookout for someone who has this model, and can give some feedback to me. I was seriously considering buying the 36Q model of the lenovo 3000 Y500 series.

I am sorry I am not responding to your msg by any help, but rather request you for yr further feedback. How has your overall experience been with this model. Do you think it worthwhile for anyone to go for this model of laptop.

    thanks.

If you want to know my experience with Lenovo 3000 Y500 776136Q, my honest suggestion would be...please try for some other brand. Few reasons could be..

    1. Lot of heat generated around the palm pad and keyboards. (heat sufficient to toast omlet) :)

    2. The earlier version of Y500 series has the option of starting the shuttle centre without starting the OS. Infact that was one of the special feature which Lenovo quoted while marketing Y series notbooks. But now the special feature is no more in the new Y series. Shuttle centre cannot be operated without starting the OS.

    3. Though they claim the lithium battery can withstand for 2:30 Hrs to 3:00 Hrs, it is not so. Even after following the procedure to charge the battery as mentioned in the manual, it went only up to 2:00 Hrs.

    4. On top of all those technical issues, I am embrassed with the answers given by the Lenovo sales person (remember he is the sales man in the Lenovo's exclusive outlet in Chennai). I would say the After Sales support is very poor. When I contact the sales man for all the issues I had, just few hours after I purchased the notebook, the sales man just by throwing away his hands replied as he doesn't have any idea about that model.

After investigating with the Lenovo technical support people, I found that all those issues mentioned above is quite common in many Y series loaded with windows VISTA.

I would say, I literally burnt my finger by buying Lenovo 3000 Y500 776136Q. All I am expecting now is that Lenovo should call back this model.

Thanks a lot for the detailed feedback. I highly appreciate this extremely helpful feedback. I had shortlisted two models, one, HP Pavilion dv6226tx, and the other this Lenovo model. I was just going to burn my fingers too. Thanks again.

    Best Wishes,
