I've been shopping for an Lenovo Advanced Mini Dock with part number 250410U.

I found some deals w/ and w/o the AC adapter. On the lenovo website it says that a 90w adapter can be bought separately. I already have the T61's default power adapter and i was wondering if it would power the dock without any faults. I intend on using all/many USB ports, ethernet, and DVI ports. thanks all.

I am looking for a good dock as well is the advanced mini dock compatible with the T61p? Everywhere I look it says its only compatible with up to T60. Where is the cheapest place to get this dock. Its a pricey piece of hardware.

    My Thinkpad
    a dock
    22" samsung monitor
    Total= $2000+

    :(

it is listed under one of the dock options when you customize the computer so I am assuming it is compatible. I can find it for 100 refurbished.

It works with the T61. As far as I know the dock is supposed to have the adapter. It uses the larger adapter.

The thing is, there are deals online for the dock without the adapter. I am wondering if I can use the default adapter that comes with the t61, not the 90w one.

Just make sure that it is not a "port replicator," which comes without a power cord, but it is NOT the same thing as the advanced mini-dock without a power cord. The advanced mini-dock has more features than simply a port replicator with a power cord.

I use the docking station all the time with a 65w power adapter combined with either my T60 or T61p. Never had any problems.

a quick google results in a no, but you can ask someone that owns on ont he forum to get you the pictures. if you're looking for a list of ports, lenovo would be enough.

I wish as I am not sure why the s-video has been removed from the laptop. I love the s-video on my t42p.

I guess it would be a little pointless for a dock to have s video. the dock isn't meant to be mobile - to bring back and forth to your tv. Or lenovo was just lazy.

Ok, admittedly simple (silly?) question, but I've never used a docking station before. Do the regular ports on the machine still work after it is docked? Eg., if the advanced mini-dock provides 4 USB ports, can I still use the 3 on my T61?

And what would be the highest resolution I could drive the DVI output with the integrated intel card on my T61?

    Thanks!

To answer you first question, yes you can still use the USB ports on your T61 when it is docked.

Second, I am not sure, sorry but, to find out you could go to properties (right click on the desktop) and go to setting and click on the 2nd monitor (does not have to be enabled) and see how high you can make the resolution. Not sure if this will give you the correct answer but, I have done it before.

Thanks .. that's useful to know.

I've tried to find the graphics adapter in the system/device driver section but w/o luck.

    I'll give this another try.

    Thanks!

With the advanced mini-dock and T61 w/ Intel X3100, I am able to 1920x1200 on my 24' monitor with DVI at work. No problems whatsoever. Just throw it on the dock and boot up the PC.

I keep the notebook screen (1280x800) on as secondary display as a permanent "Outlook Calender/Contact" list when I'm docked.
