Lenovo has released some BIOS updates for current or last gen ThinkPads with UEFI, because of a security issue in Intels reference UEFI design. Read more: UEFI EDK2 Capsule Update Vulnerabilities - Lenovo Support (US)

Not only Lenovo is affected, HP also has released UEFI updates for more than 1600 systems.

The breach allows malware in extreme cases to take control of the bootloader and UEFI.

Affected confirmed Thinkpads are currently T430, T440s, T440, X240, X240s, X230s - they are researching on more models currently.

Its recommended to update your ThinkPad or any other affected system.
