    Well I'm now the one day-old proud? owner of a T410. Now have 8GB ram, 500GB 7.2k drive, i7 620m.

General feedback - Lenovo's shipping quality sucks - the box rattled before opening and it turned out the power supply and cable were sliding up and down in a boxed section - but they were not wrapped in bubble bags, just thrown in...

On opening the PC itself, there was NO foam protection between the screen and keyboard. A first for me - I thought all notebooks shipped had that for protection.

The worst thing was that there was a mark on the screen! On calling the returns number, I emailed a photo of the mark on a 'brand new' laptop and they refused to RMA it without a restocking fee. Not something I'd expected to hear.

I decided to try a screen cleaner to see if the mark was permanent (it looked scratched), but after some good wiping it did finally come off. Phew! That saved a call to the CC company.

This was not quite the experience I expected.

Saying that, now I have the laptop, it appears otherwise well made and is definitely very fast.

I am posting this in the hope that someone at Lenovo reads this and gets the message that the experience was not one they want me telling friends...

I am a Lenovo Thinkpad fanboy too. i love my T60P and i still have the orginal package of my T60P from 3,4 yrs ago. and it is much well pack then the recent one. Lenovo just shipped my W510 last week and i will image the same experience as "realwarder" next week when i recieved it. I believed the new package system are sufficient for the UPS abuse but sometimes a good candy needs a good package too. Look at the Uni-body Macbook, they wasted tremendous amount of energy to make that aluminum top plate and they still call it "green". So lenovo, its ok to use more foam and paper in your package.

Do you guys in America know how much a W500 W/ T9800 CPU, Vista 64, 4GB ram, 320GB HDD, Blueray, 9 cell battery cost today 2/28/2010 In CHINA???

It cost 39,999 CNY which is 5882 US dollars.

What ever u pay with or without epp, spp, visa perk and coupon. are much better than Us.

So, i know i will be happy of my new W510.

The simple and non-glossy printed box with minimal packaging is a good thing, assuming all your items are secured.

Isn't the plastic bag there to protect the goodie from dust? The foam that I saw was steady and strong enough. I think that the chances of parts of the laptop and its accessories being damaged during shipping and delivery are very slim.

Have a look at any of the T410 or T510 ubboxing videos on youtube and you will see foam is no longer used. The laptop is placed in a clear plastic bag, and then two green plastic pieces are attached to the two ends and float the laptop in the middle of the cardboard box. That's it for protection.

You can take to a local lenovo support center they will replace it for you.

How well did they align the LCD along the screen cover? They didn't do a good job on mine.
