i was looking into buying a thinkpad through the canadian website.

i've noticed, different from the other manufacturers' sites, lenovo's customization options are 'additions'.

does this mean that if i want an 80gb HDD and a model only offers a 60gb hdd i have to add a separate hdd?

similarly with ram and other components.

    thank you.

yes the hdd and optical drives are separate additions in the "customization", not changes of the config... so you'd get 2 drives.
Thing is, you can put a 2nd hdd or battery or different optical into the UltraBay of a thinkpad.

The ram component is a change in the online "customization"... and they install it for you. It's a ripoff, better to order the ram separately (or buy yourself) and install it yourself, you'll save about $40

it's employee pricing, and i think he's talking about the U.S., and in any event when they buy there it's final sale (not returnable)

I dont think we should be discussing EPP in public forums...

But to anyone thinking they're missing out on a deal, that model is actually Cdn$1499 on EPP and it's only $50 more on visaperks currently. The EPP is final-sale, period. But on visaperks, it can be returned within 30 days opened & used.
So the EPP is not as good a deal IMHO.

What are you doing in this post? http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=1501408&postcount=15

    Anyway, I meant 1499.

Regarding visaperks, I see that model listed as $1844?

I'm trying to decide between the 2623D6U for $1499 vs. the 200762U for $1899.

I know the differences but x1300 vs x1400 is not a big deal?

I would be upgrading the memory to 1GB on the 2623D6U and it will still be quite a bit cheaper. What do you think?
