I've been posting about this problem in several different threads, so information has been rather scattered. So thought I'd open this new thread on this specific issue.
I'm amongst one of those who ordered an X120e in Canada and my shipping date has been constantly being pushed back, and the shipping dates are also a damn mess. Some who ordered later are getting earlier estimates, whereas others who ordered earlier are getting pushed to much later. In my case I was given 3 different dates, 21st, 26th, and April 12th. Some calling in are getting random dates as well, a different answer just by calling in a day after.
The reasons also vary as well, ranging from CPU configuration issues to Bluetooth problems.
Frankly, I'm very disappointed. I just ordered a T410 for a friend about a few weeks ago before my own, and that one came just fine, nowhere as bad as this one.
I'm really on the fence to cancel this, but I really wanted this machine to move back to a Thinkpad.

I ordered mine on day 1, when teh E-350 upgrade was free. Got it in 9 days. No bluetooth.
-
-
There's usually kinks in the system when you introduce a new system. You can wait or not. I don't know what calling often does to speed things up.
-
I just emailed them again, and now I'm promised March 18. -
I'm in the same boat as you. I had to cancel my first order, because my order was delayed from the March 15th to April 12th due to the Bluetooth configuration problem so I had to make a new one without the module. The order status for the new one says March 18th for ship date, but I called them today and they weren't able to provide me a tracking number, because the item hasn't even been shipped. I highly doubt they'll be able to ship it in 4 days, so I expect them to miss the March 18th mark as well.
-
You probably get multiple answers because like you management hasn't clued the CSRs in either.
-
-
I see, so the March 18th ship date is probably around the time they're are going to actually have the item packaged and shipped on their part. Since I made the new order on the 11th I'm guessing it takes them around a week to put the order together and do all the paperwork.
I guess it's going to be a longer wait than I expected. -
That's a pretty typical cycle--my T500 took exactly 1 week to build and ship, and then 1 more week for UPS to get it through customs and deliver it. My X120e took exactly 2 weeks total as well.
-
I'm actually closing in to 2 weeks now, ordered on the 3rd.
Still no signs of my machine even finishing up or shipping. -
Just wanted to also comment
I ordered on the March 2nd (E-350, no bt, 3cell) this is rather disapointing. Still no word on when its coming, I got an email on the 7th saying it has been shipped. I have no tracking number. And today in the mail I got my Invoice -
Looks like the shipping date has stabilized to March 18 for now...
-
it took me a week to wait for the right model to be listed (had to have 6cell, BT & OS)
in thend i got this but with a/g/b/n aswell for $475. very pleased.
i order this friday. the guy posted it same day in usa and its already in the uk today. so waiting for customs to clear it.
so yes you would of had it by now. -
Some news finally. Called Lenovo the rep emailed me my tracking information.I asked her why I didn't get it automatically. She didnt have an answer for that and said sorry.
Anyways apparantly it came to Canada early in the morning yesterday doesnt say what city. It says "Carrier and Customs Released" with an expected delivary date on the 18th. 12 business days..... so far
@ sisqo_uk Can't believe some random eBay seller was faster at this than direct from lenovo. I'm going to give someone at Lenovo an earfull when I get it. -
The reason why ebay seller was faster than Lenovo is because they already got the machine ready to ship. For normal CTO they are not yet build, sometime part are only available for so many unit. You can thanks the Japanese for their just in time production method, or Dell for perfecting it to be use in the PC industry.
-
So today is the promised shipping date, emailed them and got a response. Shipping date is now unknown, the excuse has shifted from Bluetooth to the mainboard.
I'm starting to lose hope here. -
Hang on there, I just got mine... Altough if I didnt get mine I wouldve bitten Lenovo's head off by now. Its passed 15 business days.
-
I got mine yesterday. It kicks this little machine. Im almost inclined to saying its the best damn thinkpad ive owned. But that would have to go to my trusty T42, which has just kept going.
-
Will mine still says "In Process" while the ship date still says March 18th. I haven't received an email with a tracking number either. If this is not shipped by Monday then I'm going to cancel the order. The whole purpose was to have a portable notebook for on the go and at this rate my semesters going to be done before I get it.
-
Still waiting for mine -
Status is still "In Process" with ship date of 03/09/11
I emailed "[email protected]" on 03/14/11 with regards to an update, to which they replied:
-
not the right thread to post since I am in US waiting for my lenovo but just to add to misery 03/03/11 order push back to 04/09/11... someone at customer service will take the heat when i call tomorrrow.
-
I ordered a standard config - 6 cell instead of 3 cell, but no BT - on 03/02/2011. My estimated shipping date was, from the beginning, 03/18, and my order info was updated today to say that it was shipped 03/19/2011. Still haven't received any email or tracking information about it, but at least it's on its way.

Called Lenovo today and it seems the Canadian customers got shafted again. My estimated ship date was March 18th and now it's delayed to an unconfirmed date. The site still says "In Process" while the estimated ship date is still the same old one. I had to cancel my previous order because of Bluetooth module causing a delay and now with this new order they couldn't even provide me information in regards to what part is causing the latest delay. Their new excuse is that this particular/mysterious part is coming from Japan and it's somehow related to the recent natural disaster. Then she goes by saying that they could not meet the demands with both the X series in general(tablets included) and that I would have to wait. This is getting ridiculous, I think I'm going to go ahead and cancel the order and stick to ASUS instead.
-
My biggest issue isn't really the delay. It's the random answers I'm getting as well as CONFIRMED REPORTS that some others who ordered after me getting their machines.
Conspiracy theory here, they just don't want to sell some machines because the selling price was too low. They has a pricing error, the X120e were discounted 17%, in which my machine was part of. They just want to keep delaying, until you cancel.
If there is such a serious part issue, why are they still selling the machines on their website and still promising the same 9 business days turnaround? -
Also, Lenovo's ordering system is notorious whenever a new model is initially released, so I'm not surprised that they're encountering long delays, particularly with the high demand for the X120e (much higher than the X100e, at any rate). -
-
Yeah, I'm in US and also having problems. Mine was placed on 3/9, ship date for the 19th then 21st, now it's the 25th. I guess it's just a waiting game.
Edit: For you guys who are still waiting for your orders, get charged for the laptop yet? I'm still waiting to see a charge on my credit card.. -
some days you wish that transaction go through otherwise no one like to see charges on credit card...hahhahaha -
As I mentioned in my post, it's the random reasons (first Bluetooth, then motherboard, now the screen) plus other reports of people getting their machines who ordered after me (I ordered March 2nd). I called in, rep basically gave me a lecture on manufacturing processes, which I was able to bust him point by point.
Lenovo actually has a bad rep in Canada for NOT honouring pricing errors. -
201 (they had 209 yesterday) units left in-stock, ready to ship.
Includes the E-350, Blue Tooth, 320GB HDD, 6-Cell battery Windows 7 Pro 64-Bit etc for $492.64 dollars. The same specs on Lenovo's site is like $630.00 ish?

I run two different online sales webpages, we ship a LOT of stuff to Canada, never had any issues.
Would cost around $25~30 to ship that into Canada. -
Provantage does ship to Canada btw.

Priced it up, shipped to Canada it's $513. However, from their website:
I'm paying Lenovo $480 shipped and taxes included right now. Guess I can wait and keep chasing.
EDIT: If you try to check out:
-
OK, so today yet another report on RFD... someone ordered on March 15 and the machine was shipped.

Where's my machine that was ORDERED ON MARCH 2ND?? -
-
The status of mine finally changed to state:
-
Still nothing for mine...
-
Mine arrived yesterday evening - so exactly 3 weeks after my order. In terms of timeline it's not great, and I wasn't impressed with my interactions with the customer service. It's just a netbook so I'll deal, but if I ever need a new primary computer in a rush I don't think I'll be going with Lenovo. At least not direct from them.
-
So after 18 business days and a complaint filed, FINALLY I got my shipping notification.
I hope my order doesn't get messed up and I have to wait all over again.
