I ordered a T400s from Lenovo Canada on Nov. 23 during a 30% off sale. About a week later, before the order had been shipped, I noticed they had another sale that made the laptop $100 cheaper. I called and asked if they could adjust the price, but as I expected, the only thing they offered to do was cancel the order and let me re-place it. I wasn't too happy with the idea of waiting another week, but didn't mind doing it to save $100, so I had the rep cancel my first order. I have an e-mail from her saying she cancelled it, and that I should expect a follow-up e-mail from Lenovo confirming the cancellation (which I apparently never received).
A couple of days later I noticed my Visa had been charged for both orders, and I received a shipping notice for the first order I thought had been cancelled. My second order was shipped the following day, so I now have two laptops on the way. I obviously don't want both laptops, but I'm not sure whether to wait until they arrive, or call them beforehand. I am not going to pay a restocking fee to return the first laptop, so what is the typical way to handle this situation?
As an aside, I have no idea when the laptops are arriving, because the tracking link on the order status page goes to "javascriptpenURL('null')". I assume they are both coming today, since they were shipped last Wednesday and Thursday.

I think you should call them. I don't think you'd be on the hook for a restocking fee. If they try you can always call the CC company.

I've seen it quite a few times happening to ppl on forums. Somehow the departments are separate and it takes like 5 days to actually cancel your order. By that time, if you call them, the representatives will tell you it's cancelled while the manufacturing dep is shipping it to you LOL!!!
In the last case I remember the guy had made 3 orders and cancelled 2. Although he cancelled on time, the 2 orders still shipped and he got double charged. He called in and they told him to wait for the UPS to bring the cancelled order and tell them return to sender or something like that. When the laptop went back to lenovo they would refund him the full amount.
Just call them, it's 100% their fault and they know it. (dont accept to pay anything for return shipping etc) -
Well the damn thing arrived before I had a chance to call them, and I was busy all day, so I guess I'll give them a call tomorrow morning. The second one was shipped a day later, so presumably it's coming tomorrow. It would certainly be nice to know for sure, though. "Null" isn't a particularly useful tracking update.

what I heard was:
if you refuse to accept the first one, the lenovo will give you back the money without charge you any restocking fee. But if you accepted the laptop, even if you don't open the seal, you still might be charged for restocking fee.
about the tracking number, you copy that number and find it through UPS website. -
I'm pretty sure Lenovo does not charge a restocking fee if their seal is not broken on the box. To be safe, I wouldn't open anything, and then call up Lenovo to work it out (a helpful tip when dealing with customer service - make sure you always take down the full name of every person you talk to, so you can refer to them later on). But make sure you DO NOT refuse the shipment.

Wow, I didn't even bother trying the tracking numbers on UPS' site because they look like internal Lenovo numbers on the order status page. Yep, second laptop arriving today
I'll give them a call about the other one first thing.
