Hello All, Need your adivce on avoiding restocking fee.
I've ordered a lenovo t61 on nov 26th from lenovo.com epp. Estimated ship date was dec 27th. I've called on friday (nov 30th) to find out the status and they still said estimated is going to be 27th dec due to the non-availability of DVD drives.

Meanwhile i found a very good deal on dell inspiron and have ordered the same. so i have called on monday morning at 1030AM (dec 3rd) to cancel the order, to my astonishment lenovo says they just shipped it and cannot cancel the order. i can refuse accepting the shipment or return the shipment but will be charged 15% restocking fee. There is no option of cancelling the order from lenovo.com too.

What are my options to avoid restocking fee? Or atleast can i do a price match with my dell order?

    TIA.

Why not cancel the Dell. The ThinkPad's a better machine.

If you still have not received the system you will not pay a restocking fee. You only pay a restoking fee if you send back a system you already received.

Call again, there is no reason they shouldn't accept a return on a system that has not been opened.
