Today, Lenovo cancelled my order because the shipping address and billing address did not match. I had decided to ship it to my work so that I wouldn't have to deal with possibly having the box stolen if it were left sitting on my stoop, or never having it delivered because the deliveryman couldn't deliver without a signature and would come by while I was at work.
They also informed me that there was a "manufacturer push-back" on the WSXGA+ screen that I had configured the computer with and the computer could possibly be shipping in the beginning of June.
Having ordered this computer on April 4th, this is a little upsetting. I understand that the cancellation of the order was for fraud protection purposes, and I do not fault them for it. However, when the representative re-quoted the machine it was a full $400 more expensive than the confirmation I received when ordering. The price jumped from $1323 with the sale they have + the 20% March Madness coupon. The new quoted price is $1727. This doesn't even match the price on their website for exactly the equipment that the representative included in the machine (which matched the parts I had ordered), which is $1594 with the price cut but without the 20% coupon. The representative indeed had said that he would be able to get me the 20% discount that was running at the time of order, but that doesn't even match the price. The price that is "marked through" on their site, as being before the sale, is $2088. After 20% off that price is $1670.
What should I do? With the delay, I don't want to scrap the whole order and start over, setting me further behind in the line, but delays seem to be a recurring theme with Lenovo. I have read many times of shipping dates being delayed and things going horribly wrong when ordering from Lenovo. Should I stick it out and attempt to get the price adjusted back down to what it was before the fiasco, or are there other ways to pursue a solution?

I would simply inform them they if they don't match the sale price of the original order you would walk away and purchase from somewhere else.
-
I guess that is the simplest plan of action.
Has anyone heard as to why these shortages are occurring? Is it Samsung or LG? -
Contact mark lenovo on here and he should be able to help you out.

That's truly unfortunate, you seem to be very reasonable and level headed about the whole thing. I'm highly surprised they will not honor the original price given it was all a misunderstanding, and I would think you could ask for it to be escalated to a manager and make it clear you will not purchase at the new price.
That said, keep your eye out for a 20% off coupon coming over the next 2-days, maybe it will make the price the same or, who knows, better. -
Well it seems this whole ordeal may have been a blessing in disguise. The representative fixed the price back to what it was originally. He also informed me that the WSXGA+ screen issue will be resolved soon and that it should ship about normal time for Lenovos. The new estimated shipping date from Lenovo's order status page is 5/2/09, so I got a possible sooner delivery out of this.

That's great news.
