Yeah Jeremy092288, I am aware of that one. But even with that, the T61p is about $350.00 more that I can afford right now.

Then get the T61. The T61P and the T61 are identical except for the graphics card. Is it worth paying the extra $500 for a better graphics card?

What? Why has lskey's NOT been hooked up with an epp code yet?!

Well, you could skimp on memory, skimp on graphics, skimp on OS, skimp on your optical and HD, etc. What I did. Or just get a Vostro and call it a day. I should have waited for one of those. Next time, next time.

Why should you have waited on the Vostros Leon2245 are they better than the T61 series. They are "butt" ugly. But the specs are pretty good. I was look at the 1500 vostros. Dell have better discounts. But as far as taxes. Dell charge double what Lenovo charges. If the vostros had a fingerprint reader, I would really consider it.

Has anyone been having problems checking out of the Lenovo SPP page? I get a page cannot be found on the Lenovo page at the part where you are supposed to enter the address information. I was about to order a sweet T61p.

    Is it just me?

Edit: It seems the page works fine if I login into an account before checkout instead of trying to use guest checkout.

I don't know. It's all I need really. Have a fingerprint reader on my current thinkpad, skipped it this time because in practice, for me, pw is more convenient more times than not. Dry finger, fast finger, stink finger, too slow, off centered, too fast try again, something ~5-10% of the time. PW is faster. I don't need advanced specs, and finally dell comes out with a basic looking black notebook for cheap... with a name that sounds like food. Win-win.

Check out the T61 CTO with the 570 FX 128 MB, same card pretty much, different price.

You forgot to mention the WUXGA 15" screen which is worth at least an extra $300 to me (and probably costs as much more in real terms). I think the cost is justified for a T61p. It is not for everyone.

My loaded T40p cost $3500 a few years back. I am happy paying around $2000 (with the current sale) with a 3 year hassle free on-site warranty and insurance.

How can you say it is the same card when it has half the memory of the Quadro in the T61p?

if you cant afford it then get a dell, that's what they are there for. Thinkpad is not a consumer line and I hate how they have lowerd all their prices so that cheap *****es can afford them ultimately lowering the quality and presitge of the thinkpad line.
