this is my first day in this community. i appreciate the level of discussions here, and i think i will become a frequent visitor. i have two Qs

    A) i am about to buy a T60 but i wanted to know if anybody can tell me if the 802.11n adapter inside will be firmware upgradeable to draft 2.0? i researched a bit in wi-fi specific communities and the consensus seems to be that the later draft-n router implementations should all be upgradeable to 2.0, but can the same be said about the NICs, more specifically the 802.11n NIC that ships in the T60?

    B) is the intel graphics 950 engine capable of running the built in LCD at 1024x768 simultaneously with an external LCD at 1920x1200 (dell 2405FPW 24'')? refresh rates are not a concern with LCDs so i only need to know if it can run both of those at 32bit color.

    thanks

    Welcome to the community! :)

I don't think I can provide a definite answer to both your questions but I have my 'insight' on question B.

I do believe the intel graphics 950 is capable of running dual monitors and maybe up to 1920x1200 resolution (I think it should be able to run that resolution) with little or no problems. Refresh rate or 32bit colour should not be an issue.

    edit:
    http://www.intel.com/products/chipsets/gma950/
'Dual screen support through ADD2 digital video devices'
'16x9 and 16x10 Aspect Ratio for widescreen displays'
'Up to 2048x1536 resolution for both analog and digital displays'

    Fingers point to 'yes'

    edit2:
make sure you get the latests driver updates here:

    From 2/2007... http://80211n.wifinetnews.com/archives/2007/02/draft_n_upgrade.html

I don't see why Atheros would reneg on their previous promises. And if it somehow ends up that there's an issue with the official N on Atheros chips, Lenovo would probably be graceful with giving you a replacement wireless card. (Or so I would hope.)

i guess i got the answer. according to

    http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=3563&review=ThinkPad+T60+(Think+Express+Model)
    and
    http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopi...start=30&sid=9d54c63d62751309444ff547c97e7dbf

it seems that it comes with the Atheros AR5008, and since this is the same chipset inside the belkin n1 router (which i have been told fairly certainly it WILL be upgradeable to final n) the answer is YES. you should be able to upgrade it to final n once the firmware is released.

    off to get a t60...
