    Hello,

Today i have really bad luck. I want to go ride a bike so i turn off my lenovo e420, when i come back i try to activate it it starts but it have black screen, after few restarts it have no reaction on the power button, no matter i use battery energu, or AC, i try activate it with out battery but still nothing :(.

I have very important data on that pc so i would do not send it on warranty.
What thing can be a reason for that? Lenovo e420 needs battery to start even on cord? Maybe battery is a problem? Please help. Also sorry for my english.

I had something very similar happen to my old x100e. It had a dead motherboard. I would try is to see if you can get an external display to work with the laptop. If it doesn't display on an external display, I would send it in for repair. You shouldn't have to send in your hard drive for repair if it doesn't have to do with the problem. I would also get that information off of the laptop and back it up or transfer it to another device/computer.

At this momemnt notebook seems to be absolutly dead so trying with external display have no sense... Zero reaction for pressing power button.

I will call tomorrow to Polish Lenovo, we will see what they say.

If you send your laptop in for warranty service, you should not send in your hard drive, unless requested (the warranty repair contractors have hard drives that they can put in for testing purposes). You can take out the hard drive and keep it safe until you get the laptop back.

i had the same exact issue on my e420 a few months ago i sent it in and since its a motherboard issue my data wasnt affected. it took them about 2-3 weeks to service the laptop. i think thats ur best bet.
