Lenovo Failed the Test

Ordered a T61 on June 14. 2007. Called them on Wednesday the 20th to check on the status. The guy told me that the system was build and getting ready to ship. Then he asked me if I worked for IBM. I used the Myers discount (EPP). I told him no and hung up. I called today to check upon the order and the lady put me on hold twice to check the order status. She said that "MY ORDER WAS BEING CANCELLED FOR AN ILLEGAL EPP discount". I gave the b* a few choice words and told her that I would just get a DELL laptop. Before then my order always listed as "in process". After about thirty minutes, I could not log into the order to check the status. That was strange because there some people on this forum that did receive their T61 with the EPP. Maybe if I did not call to check the order status, it would have went through. Guess, I will wait until Tuesday and see what DELL HAS TO OFFER WITH THEIR NEW SYSTEMS, OR see what kind of 4th of July discounts Lenovo offers. Below is my first post on the subject called, "Putting Lenovo to the test"

So, now the estimated ship date is July, 1,2007. Have not received a confirmation email yet. They did put a hold on my CC immediately. BTW, this is "Quote, that I converted to an order". Which me luck. I hope they ship next week sometime.. If Lenovo keep following the trend.

 

Dude you knew it was against the rules to use it and they found you out. Stop *****ing. I'm glad yours got cancelled so people who abide by the rules will actually get their laptops.

As for lskeys, he took the risk, and it failed. He should have known that the EPP was a risky decision to play with.

From an outsiders point of view, I would say lenovo passed the test.

EPP does not apply to employees only. It's also work for friend and family. You could have said that you are a friend of Myers instead of hung up

Lenovo passed the test!

 

lenovo did exactly what i think they should have by canceling the order. although you could have definitly just said im his friend and gotten away with it.

 

had you been a little bit calmer, you would have received your order no problem. calling it in raised a flag, its a shame too because you probably had to be on hold for like 30 minutes.

tellin lenovo that you're gonna get a dell is like telling verizon wireless that you're going to switch to tmobile.....they just dont care because they know you will be back on your knees.

 

Ok, first of all, even though this is bad and you should not follow..You could've said that you did work for IBM...And hopefully the Lenovo worker would've just said "Ok"..If he did ask for more details..Then uh-oh.lol

2nd, the release Meyer EPP incident was abused very much. That's probably the reason why he wanted to take his EPP post out due to he could've lost his job.

3rd, using someone else's identification for your own use is ILLEGAL. That's being an identity thief. Those are what identity thieves do..Steal other people's valuable information...such as accounts to work..

Sirius my friend you are all over the place. You brag on the Dell 630 you purchased, yet you are allways in the Lenovo forum trying to get a Deal for a T61. Guess your dell is that good after all. You still want the thinkpad. Tell us Sirius, how does you Dell Latitude 630 compare to the T61?

Most of you use the same discount. And just about all you that opined about me abusing the system was on this forum crying about lenovo finding out and canceling the warranty. Most of you made post about calling to canel your order because you were AFFRAID LENOVO WOULD CANCEL YOUR ORDER OR VOID YOUR EXTENDED WARRANTY.

 

I never accused you of abusing it. I'm saying, is that, before the date of you purchased, OTHER people abused it by purchasing it at the moment and taking it to their advantage.

For the Record, you need to calm yourself down. Using vulgar and offensive language is not a way to solve problems. Notebook Review should be a forum filled with helpful reviews with clean language. Putting people down with offensive language won't exactly help your post in proving your point. It justs makes things worse, and is unnecessary. You could've rephrased that.

 

I agree with you Ghost. It was a abuse of the ordering process. I am not sad it got cancelled. I was kind of hoping that it would, especially since I had read a post on the thinkpad.com forum. This guy compared a T61 to a Macbook Pro. He gave an honest review. I realized then the I did not really want the 14.1' T61. I think the 15.4 would be better for me. Just will wait for a discrete GPU. Hopefully during the Fourth of July Sale.

 

You can count me as one who did NOT cheat the system...I used my student discount which I am legally in the right to use instead of trying to cheat the system.

 

@ Grentz- I'm glad that you're honest about that. Using student discounts are a great way to save a bit of money. I use it all the time. ^_^ I'm a college student, and I use that whenever I can.

I own several, not one, D630's. And yes, they are great machines. And yes, I'm looking to purchase a Lenovo T61 to compare the two. And yes I'm looking for DEALS because I will not spend more money on an inferior product. What's your point?

Not too disappointed in the situation Sirius, you had to be on the phone at that time to get the true gist. Only after she told me the order was cancelled and then she got disrespectful to me did I use the b* word. Which, I admit was disrespectful.
