When unplugged, the screen on my Lenovo G550 goes dark after 60 seconds of inactivity, although I can still see faint shadow of the desktop if I look closely. It's always 1 minute. It wakes up when I touch a key or the touchpad. This does not happen when plugged in. The computer is new. Does anyone know what the problem could be? I don't think it's the following:
*Battery is at 98 percent power
*Screensaver is set to wait 10 min
*Power save is set to turn off display after 10 min on battery, sleep after 15 min
*It happens even if I've just turned on the computer and done nothing - so I doubt it's a temperature issue (but I don't know how to check temps)
Thanks for any help. I need to solve this before several long flights in Nov where I obviously can't work plugged in![]()

If you have a lenovo specific app to control power look in there, if you have then check in the Windows Control panel for power saving options. It is probably somewhere between the two.

I don't think I have a Lenovo app for power - where would I look for that? I had the Windows control panel power saving options set as noted above, to wait 10 min. But I just went and set it to "never" turn off the screen and it still went black after 1 min.

Look in start and all programs. I don't know what it is called because the app is different on Thinkpad's versus Ideapads.

THANK YOU - I found Energy Management under Lenovo in All Programs and it was set to turn backlight off after 1 minute. I had no idea there was an app like that. Again, thanks!!
