After approximately 1 minute, regardless of whether the computer is plugged in or running on battery, the computer screen goes black. I've messed with the power settings, putting them on balanced as one thing I read suggeested that. I tried to adjust the display time, the blacklight and the image sensor or whatever it's called. Nothing has seemed to help or change it. Any advice of other things I may not have thought of? I think I've gone into every obvious option in the control panel and display settings.

Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
Have you tried a Linux boot disc, the rules out drivers.
If you get display you may just need to reinstall display drivers.
Does it also display to an external monitor? -
Theres been a lot written about this,,,some say it the backlight,,others say it the graphics chipset, some say its the inverter, some say the screen, some say its the power chip getting hot,me I think its the hardware that plugs into the screen, typically its behind the screen on the top left,,put into a shop and get a diagnosis with estimate to repair,,,,then repair or hello new laptop,,,,,,,,,unless you a warranty,,then send it in , rma time.
Cheers
