Are G560 any good for the G565 to be a good update?
Are they reliable machines? ( I'm actually planning to buy a lenovo laptop )

they are an adequate machine for the price point. Obviously it is not as well built as a thinkpad.

at MINIMUM,get an Edge model, preferably a 14 inch since the 15 has nasty keyboard flex (I tried it,and it flexes pretty good under the Enter key).
Looking at the G series is pretty much the same as going to Walmart and looking at their selection of crappy HPs.
Of course,if you want a real reason to get an Edge over a G, is that the keyboards on the Edge models (even though they are pretty much the same exact keyboard thats on my little 11 inch) is one of the best keyboards ive ever typed on (except for the afore mentioned flex on the 15 inch model, tho i havent tried the 14 inch one to see how bad it is on it),and well,I hate glossy screens, and the Edge models can come with matte screens,im pretty sure the G series is all glossy.
That, and even though the Edge isnt a "real" thinkpad,it at least looks better than the G series. -
G series could be made by the same contract manufacturers that make those HP, Dell, Acer consumer line laptops...
Even an second hand Thinkpad T500/T400/T61/R400/R500/R61 represents a better purchase, since the AMD CPU used in the G series is not that fast. -
As much as I like AMD CPUs, Intel still has them beat in the laptop market. Faster, cooler, and longer battery runtime.
If I was getting a G-series, I'd probably go G560. That said, I'd be likely to save my money and get a T410 or T510 from the Lenovo Outlet; I'd bet I could get something more durable for not much more. -
Thanks for your replies.
I'll cross out the G565 from my list and look towards the thinkpads then.
Probably a T510.
The thing is that, I'm not too much in a hurry to buy a laptop, I'm just prospecting at the moment. Is it worth if for me to wait till ~march 2011? Will there be any worthwhile updates from Lenovo? -
if there is an update in CPU technology, then Lenovo would update their laptops too.
