I just purchased a brand new Lenovo G585 laptop and after I powered it on for the first time, I tried to connect to the internet wirelessly but I only saw the Ethernet option under network connections in the control panel and not the wireless LAN or wifi option.
I looked to see if any drivers were installed correctly and I believe they were. I manually downloaded the wireless LAN driver and installed it. It said that it was already installed but I still performed a overwrite and continued to install it. After it was finish, a warning popup came up and it said "No appropriate driver to be installed."
I wasn't able to figure it out on my own what the problem may be so I contacted the Lenovo tech support and they did a remote session. They basically did the same thing I was doing when I tried to figure out the problem. Also, I went into the BIOS menu and saw that the Wireless LAN Support was enabled so the representative told me that it shouldn't be a hardware issue, it'll most likely be a software issue. He couldn't figure it out either so they told me to call the premium tech support which handles the software issues and they'll help you solve the problem but I've contacted them and I wasn't told by the Lenovo tech support representative that I would need to sign up for some subscription to get help from them. No thanks.
So I guess I'm on my own with this and I hope it's not a hardware issue. Anyone have any ideas what could be the problem?
