Anyone else have difficulties activating Lenovo Gift Cards?
My Brother has received nearly $1000 in Lenovo Gift Cards from friends and family.
Lucky guy right?
Not really!
We all realized he was in pursuit of a new X1 Carbon so we all pitched in to help ease the pain of that price tag.
Well, he was ready to Pull The Trigger and buy that new shiny X1 weeks ago but has had insurmountable obstacles in the purchase of this laptop from Lenovo because apparently Lenovo is having "problems" with these gift cards. So here we all are, friends and family of my brother, are out the money and my brother still hasn't had any help from Lenovo in terms of rectifying this issue.
Just wondering if anyone has had any luck using these things and if you if you did have similar problems, how did you solve it, assuming you did?
Lenovo says these Gift Cards are handled by a "third party" and is not responsible for it.
Kinda funny how when you go to their website, it does not state ANYTHING about a third party at all.
Looks like Lenovo is stealing the cash and passing the problem to a fictitious 3rd party.
Might be time to start slamming via social media....
Rant Out.

I recommend you get your money back. I presume you bought those cards via credit card, right? Simply call the credit card company and have them revert the charge.

On a different note, have you spoken to a live rep or just attempted a purchase through the website? -
Multiple reps on the phone. All have said they would look into it and stated they would call back, yet none have. It's been over two weeks now, hence the warning to others now. Will now start the process amongst everyone to try to get their money back.
Lenovo has lost this sale along with many others based on this experience.

An Update;
My brother is STILL trying to get this Gift Card Issue Resolved.
He has spoken with and emailed a Lenovo rep by the name of:
Angelo Collins
Inbound Sales Rep II
Lenovo USA
1009 Thinkpad Place
Morrisville NC 27560
Still, so far no luck!
Lenovo basically says it's not THEIR problem.
They are blaming “STORE FINANCIAL” for this screw-up.
As my brother has made clear to them, these gift cards were purchased via the Lenovo website.
Lenovo does have a certain amount of responsibly in this, yet fails to help the customer out.
Makes you wonder how else they will drop the ball if issues with their product arises as well?
He really wants to stay with Lenovo since he has been a huge fan of theirs in the past.
I have suggested to him that he just give up on those gift cards and just go back to his relatives to get their money back, but for some strange reason, he feels obligated to use those cards since they were given to him from his wife's family as a Christmas gift. I mentioned to him that he just give up, he did the best he could and that it is now time to buy the Lenovo X1 Carbon and just pretend he never received that wonderful gift from his in-laws. Again, he put in a super human attempt to get this rectified, but to no avail. It's not like he couldn't afford that laptop without those gift cards.
So my post here is two or three fold.
I wanted to update all of you here on LENOVO Gift Cards.
DON'T BUY THEM! - THEY DON'T WORK! At least in this case.
Lenovo states that it is not their problem, even though these gift cards are bought from their very own website.
And knowing my brother the way I do, I suspect he just might say the hell with Lenovo and buy his next laptop from one of their competitors.
That being said, which business laptop, something similar to the X1 Carbon, would you recommend he look at if he kisses Lenovo Goodbye?
Thanks All.
DON'T BUY LENOVO GIFT CARDS! -
Seems like a contacting the credit card company is the way to go. :/
If for an alternative, I think looking both at form and build quality, a 13" Macbook Air is a solid option.
Lenovo Gift Cards - CAUTION!
