    Hey guys [IMG]

I'm thinking about buying a (first) new laptop, mainly for studying but possibly also for other casual&everyday uses, from simple video editing to light gaming.

I was thinking about getting either a Lenovo IdeaPad U41-70 or a Lenovo Yoga 500-14. I also thought about the Asus X302LJ, but from what I've heard its got a very disappointing battery, lasting only ~3 hours, which is unacceptable for me.

I'd love to hear recommendations regarding these laptops [IMG]

Both the IdeaPad U41-70 and the Yoga 500-14 can come with the same specs on paper, I'm aiming for these specific configurations:

    - Intel Core i5-5200U OR Intel Core i7-5500U
    - 8GB DDR3 RAM
    - NVIDIA GeForce GT 920M 2GB OR NVIDIA GeForce GT940M 2GB
    - 1TB HDD + 8GB SSD
    - 1920x1080 FHD 14" Screen

By the way - as you can see I have an option to choose an i7 over an i5 and a GT 940M over a GT 920M. The question is - are the i7-5500U and the GT940M worth the extra $150?

    Thanks in advance! [IMG]

I would say the i7 is not worth the extra money. As for the video card, that really depends on you and if you are going to game AT ALL. If no gaming, then don't pay extra for the video card, but if you want to play some games then go for the 940m. The 920m is really not any good and only marginally better than the HD5500 on the i5 and i7 already.

As to which is a better laptop, I would go with the Yoga. I love using "kiosk" mode for watching videos in bed or while eating breakfast or lunch.

OK, thank you for your answer :) apart from the touchscreen and increased flexibility, is there any concrete difference between the two models?

I was thinking about the same buy but i only found a review on the U41-70 and no on the Yoga 500 but i think the Yoga is gonna be better because it has more air holes so i assume it will have better airflow thus less heat and less noise, nextly the yoga has bigger battery and IPS panel but is heavier for about 100-200 grams.

EDIT: so today i found that the yoga 500 is basically a flex 3 and flex 3 is only in US and the Yoga 500 is its name outside of US (dunno about canada)
