Hey, I didn't see a thread on this so I thought I would start it off!

Looks like the perfect new ultraportable with DECENT power (1.6Ghz dual-core chip compared to the 1.2Ghz ULV chips on the Sony TZ series)

    Any comments?

I want one... This thing will actually perform quite well, without having to fork out the cash for an SSD...

I always planned to order the U110 on the first day, but the one thats available now only has 2GB of RAM. I suppose I'll have to wait.

I've read that 3GB is preferred with Windows Vista. Is 2GB vs 3GB that much of a difference in performance for Vista? I'm an XP user now.

The difference varies depending on what you use your computer for. Personally, I found Vista was much more responsive with 3GB.

I think it's worth the extra $100 for 3GB RAM vs. 2GB. My old laptop crashed (motherboard) in March, so a few more weeks.....

    Thanks for input!

This laptop looks pretty cool. Not sure about the reflective keyboard and grime, but the specs look ok. 1900 is probably right for something like this, but I've been looking pretty hard at getting an EEE pc to play around with.

The LED screen and the design on the display cover are nice touches. I'm interested in how the "Dolby" speaker system sounds like and how many hours of battery life it gets.

I also wonder what it looks like with the larger battery in it...

Correct, I can't believe the OP can't read specs! It's only a 4200rpm drive, but at least it's 120GB and not 80GB, like the MBA. Also, it comes with two batteries, a 4-cell and 7-cell.

Lenovo rates the 4-cell at two hours and the 7-cell at six (!). I think the two hours is realistic, but just can't believe that less than double the cells will *triple* battery life, so two batteries will probably laster closer to six hours than eight.

I would have to say the Eee PC is a better deal and more ideal for an ultra portable that is not your main computer. The Eee is a very good deal too...

Not really a comparison here but I agree the eee is a good deal. Also the HP 2133 is a better competitor in my opinion. If it only had a better CPU. Sigh.
