Are there any reviews from people who actually own this laptop? It's very appealing to me, but i don't want to get it because it's pretty. I need the i5 core processor it has, and the portability. Does it have anything else that makes it special?

I think that its main apeal IS that it's pretty. I played with one at a local store last week and it is probably even better looking than the images and videos make it out to be. The size and weight are perfect, keyboard and touchpad are the best I have ever experienced on a consumer laptop, and the matte screen is a rarity.
On the other hand, you are paying quite the premium for these attributes. I really wanted one of these too, but the premium price for a gen 1 i5 processor soured my feelings a bit, and the battery life of under 4 hours just kills it for me.
I am going to hold out for a couple of more weeks hoping for the edge e220s to be released, but after that I'll be exploring alternatives. -
At the end of the day it's an expensive, great form factor laptop that can only manage 3 hours on a charge. Also, the i5 is a ULV processor instead of the much more powerful standard voltage i5. Since looks aren't a factor, I would take a look at the x201 and the upcoming x220.

Can someone give me something to compare the strength of this computer to? I have an old vaio from 2006 with an intel centrino duo processor. I really like this computer, but i don't want to waste my money on a computer that can't handle multitasking in web browser/word/excel and watch HD movies. I really like that the comfort is so highly rated, and portability, but i don't want to be dissapointed by responsiveness or power. But since i'm used to a 5 year old computer, maybe it will be fine for me?
Or should i go with the new Thinkpad edge e420s? I'm torn between good looks and what it can actually offer me. -
The Ideapad u260 will most likely going to have a better screen, the contrast ratio for the E420s are 300:1, which frankly is mediocre. With the thing you have listed, the U260 will handled these task very well. I think both the e460s and u260 is a great choice, personally I would get e420s instead of the u260 just because it is more powerful.
Have you take a look at the E220s, X220, and the X120e. -
Thank you, but that didn't mention anything about the power of the computer. Does it have a DVD drive? I can't find it listed on the websites.
-
No optical drive on the U260. If that's a requirement for you I think the E420s is the only notebook mentioned thus far in this thread to have one.
-
he's right. u260 doesn't have dvdrom
-
The E420s has a slot loading dvd like the Macbook and Envy, which could be a bad/good thing.
