I created this thread simply because I am really excited about this laptop and I know a lot of other ppl are too. I just ordered the P7450/NVIDIA G105M option today!!
Basically I just wanted a thread for all of the ppl who like the Y450 and not necessarily the entire Y-series by Lenovo.
Has anyone ordered this laptop yet? or does anyone already have this laptop?

I am hoping and waiting for the option with the Nvidia 130M.
-
actually i would have preferred the 130M option but im am currently an engineering student in college and i simply cant afford anything over $1000
-
Has anyone received theirs yet?? I have seen any reviews either and its been 2 weeks...
-
I ordered one yesterday. I found the coupon code USPEMAILMD will take 10% off. Can't wait for it.
-
hopefully i will be getting mine by next week... im planning to put Windows 7 RC on it... does anyone know if this laptop comes with a cd with all the drivers on it?? it would make it a lot easier to install Win7 and use those drivers.
-
has anyone found any reviews in english for the y450?
i have yet to find anyone who has received this laptop either... -
Looks like theyre available for shipping from tigerdirect http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicat...ils.asp?EdpNo=4459469&sku=T71-5343&srkey=y450 so hopefully there'll be reviews soon.

Oh
I had assumed that because tigerdirect says "order today, ships today" it meant they'd received them already. Oh well, hopefully soon.

Sorry for the interruption.
I am just curious to know how you paid ? Credit Card ? (VISA/Master..)
Because, since yesterday I am trying to buy R500 but I am getting error on payment. I have tried VISA and MASTER both.
But after I click on final continue button for payment: it says "(An error has happened in processing your order. Please try again later.)"
Can you tell me your scenario ?
Thanks.

Just today I see there's been a significant price drop on all of the IdeaPad Y450 laptops. All of the machines' prices have been cut by at least $100. Any guesses as to why that is? Is the machine not selling well? Are updates coming out soon and they're trying to get rid of older stock? And most importantly, with that additional 10% coupon available today, is this the right time to buy?
-
They're definitey not trying to get rid of old stock, the y450 is brand new. I've been reading multiple threads and it seems that they haven't even shipped any y450s yet- there have been tons of orders but they're all getting pushed back. People who ordered a couple weeks ago have had their shipping dates repeatedly pushed back (now into June), so I have no idea what's really going on with the y450 or why they'd lower the price.
-
I've been watching these computers like a hawk, as I really was intrigued by the design. And now that they are available for almost $200 less, it seems so tempting to go ahead and order one. But all this crap with delayed shipments has me scratching my head.
I've been wondering if they're planning to update the innards on these, since their first offerings do seem to be rather outdated now, especially since these are considered "new" as of last month. I'm c'mon, who are you kidding with a P7450 being the best processor they offer for the 14"? -
I so want this to come out in the UK. But we don't even have a Y-series
. If you guys hear anything, let moi know.

and regarding the shipping of the y450... my laptop shipping date was yesterday 5/11... but the order status still says "in process" and the shipping date has been pushed back to 6/8!!! so i called lenovo to ask what was going on... they said (and it has been confirmed by many different reps) that the order status online is simply computer generated and that the real shipment date will be during the week of 5/21! i found it kinda odd that they would pick thursday to represent a week but the guy said that the date was given by the warehouse ppl... the representative also told me that most orders were being pushed make because their supply simply doesnt meet the demand. he said they never expected this laptop to sell so quickly and at the rate that it is.
if any of you remember when the nintendo wii first came out... nintendo could barely supply people up until recently when the demand dropped....so basically what im trying to say is... patience is a virtue!! -
-
i got the p7450 option with the student discount and 1 year + accidental warranty for $900. but the shipping is what seems to be the issue... has anyone actually received theirs yet?
-
i think the delay in shipment is only for the p7450 option... probably because its a really good config for a cheap price... and lenovo's supply for this laptop does not meet the demand
-
I ordered the p7450 cpu model on the 12th...ESD is June 10th.

Don't get taken, like I was.
I ordered the Lenovo Y450 (model 418938U). A nice-looking laptop, and seems to work OK for the most part, except that the wrist-rest area gets very hot during usage. I'm not talking about warm, I'm talking hot. It was so uncomfortable I decided to call tech support and report the problem. The tech support guy said "they are all like that". I've never used a laptop that got so hot.
I will also add that when I was going through the personalization features, the Windows Vista explorer would stop responding, and I had to shut it down and restart. This isn't a good sign either, especially since this was supposedly a very powerful machine with the Core 2 Duo processor.
I called the sales department, and they said I would have to pay to ship the unit back + pay a 15% restocking fee (I have to pay because they don't consider the unit to be faulty). All that for the priviledge of trying out their machine for less than 24 hours. So I'm sending it back, and my only hope is to dispute the restocking fee with my credit card.
The rest of you can take your chances, but honestly I will never do business with this company again. Their poorly designed (or faulty) product ended up costing me $100 to try out for a single day. You've been warned. -
You should have done some research on the Y450, and you would have found that for its good looks and good specs, the number one complaint about it is the heat.
Sorry you had to pay the restock fee, but you can avoid things like this by reading reviews of machines. If you have big pet peeves like laptop heat, its a great way to find out about them ahead of time. -
maynard7, you dont have to spam post either. This is the second or third thread thats been copied and pasted onto. You agreed to 15% restocking fees when you bought the laptop.
