That makes quite a lot more sense than dedicated minidrive for Windows... Thanks a lot for sharing this information!

Yep, here it is:

Are any of the other ultrabay components on the site yet? Another link would be great, and thanks for this one
-
Yep, they have the extra GPU, extra fan, and CD drive.
-
BTW, you will also need the 170 W power supply if you want to run SLI with this series.

Hi! I'm new inhere so please bear with me if anything is out of place
First things first: I really like my new Y500!
- But the trackpad does quite often have "a life of it's own". I read that i could reinstall the driver for the trackpad, is this correct, and do i have to delete the original driver in controlpanels first? And will the trackpad then be normal?
- And then there is a low penetrating "biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii" noise comming from the left side of the computer - and it is not the fan. You can also hear the fan but is not a problem. This "biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii" noise bothers me when i have to read a book while sitting at the computer.
Does anybody have experiences here, or is this "biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii" noise normal?
Kind regards
-
That is the hard drive. Unfortunately it makes a funky noise like that at times. Think it has something to do with the power management? Mine used to make that funky noise but it's been quiet lately. Can't remember exactly what I did, try messing around with your energy management settings or even update it to the newest version. I'm running 8.0.2.4, if mine is newer than yours then I probably got it from here: èæ³IdeaPadY500驱å¨ä¸è½½ windows xp/vista/win7_èæ³ä¸å½(lenovo china)æå¡é¢é

Hey, after your post, I got really intrested in this laptop.
One big thing for me is that the keyboard must support 6+ simultaniously pressed keys.
Any chance that you could test this for me? There is a good tester on microsofts website: Microsoft Applied Sciences Group
Can you test pressing simultaniously s,d,f,and 2 arrow keys (say, down and left)?
Thanks,
-J -
I can get it to recognize 6 keys together but not more.
-
Great news. Does the key combo above work? Wold you mind testing a couple more (sdf and up-right, up-left, down-right, down-left)?
Thanks again,
-J -
Yup, works. sdf+any other 3 combination on the arrow keys.
-
Alright, thank you very much.

How about the temps?
I have an DV6-3052NR, that is a lame, the temps are so high, that i can only use the notebook with a cooling pad, and even sometimes, it shutdowns because of high temps.
Another question, i have 3 specs, i got money for both, but i'm not Donald Trump
, and a $400 saving probably can be used to get a new console of next gen

I'm really thinking about the i5, i got an i7 1st gen, but as i read some reviews, the i5 x i7 in 3rd gen, isn't too much difference. -
Just saw that model on BestBuy, at U$999

Here are some benchmarks of both the i5 and i7 model you're considering.
Intel Core i5 3230M
Intel Core i5 3230M Notebook Processor - NotebookCheck.net Tech
PassMark - Intel Core i5-3230M @ 2.60GHz - Price performance comparison
Intel Core i7 3630QM
Intel Core i7 3630QM Notebook Processor - NotebookCheck.net Tech
PassMark - Intel Core i7-3630QM @ 2.40GHz - Price performance comparison
I'm not sure how those scores translate into actual game performance but I suppose they'll help you decide -
I would say go with suck it up and go with i7, there is some difference afterall...

Hello there.
Recently, there was discovered that with y510p, when you have only single GT750m and hd4600 driver installed ( haswell cpu ), you can manualy switch between gt750m and IGC.
My question is, can anybody confirm this, running with Ivy bridge cpu / gt 650m/750m.
I am considering y500 with Ivy i5 and single gt750m. And this possibility of having IGC when battery life was priority would be awesome
-
I believe the IGP is disabled in BIOS on the y500.
-
question: The bezel on top of my screen(where the webcam sits) is a bit loose, it's not sturdy but moves a small bit if one puts pressure on it. Is this common thing with the Y500 or is it just mine?

does anyone know if the SLI issues have been worked out these. Also does anyone know the part number for the DVD and the part number for the bluray drive. Thanks
