A lot of Y500 owners with Windows 8 are having issues with wifi connectivity.

One of the issues is, after being disconnected from the router due to a weak connection, the browser doesn't go anywhere although a wifi connection has been re-established. It can be temporarily resolved by disabling and enabling the Intel Wireless-N 2230 card. However, this solution is very temporary. rolling back the drivers help a little, but doesn't last long. I've found a way to fix this permanently.

The culprit is corrupt internet protocols. to reset your corrupt settings, enter command prompt as admin (run CMD -> right click -> run as administrator), and enter the following commands.

    "netsh winsock reset catalog"

    press ENTER

"netsh int ip reset reset.log hit"

    press ENTER

it should tell you to reboot, so reboot

Solved! should be working fine again.

just wanted to share a solution that worked for me! :)
