It seems to happen now and then. I think any time they update their website sections of it go down for a day or so. Maybe it's some other reason but I think that's most likely.

It seems you are correct, they have updated their website, now there are no configurable options available, only a few add-on extras.
No options available for keyboards, extra battery 6 or 9 cells, office software etc etc etc, as the Tech Spec PDF Data file does not specifically state full details, one does not know what exactly one will be ordering.............

Edit:......On hind sight, this maybe better as it will be factory boxed.........no further meddling due to configurations and ATM there's nothing out there to beat it at this price point. I had wanted it to be lighter but that's just not going to be possible due to the necessity for heat transfer from the GPU...............

how are you guys enjoying your y580 so far? I''ve been thinking of picking it up for a while, but I'm quite not sold yet with all those comments about poor customer service experience..

I'm liking mine so far minus the trackpad. It is a little bit bulky, but I guess that's the price for power. temperatures on it are acceptable haven't experienced any abnormally high temperatures even after gaming for long hours.

Yes, the customer service is abysmal. I've purchased laptops from other manufacturers before, and Lenovo imo has the worst service by far. I spent half the day Friday speaking with post sales service to transfer the 2 yr warranty I purchased for the Y580 from a defective laptop that they originally sent me, to the replacement laptop. Lenovo told me it would automatically transfer over when they processed the replacement, which if course didn't happen. It takes about half an hour to an hour wait just to get on the phone with someone at Lenovo and each time, someone gives you a different answer. I'm a very patient person, but with Lenovo, my patience just goes out the door. Customer service is a key component for me when I purchase products. I'm still within my return period, so I may still return it based on poor service alone.

Having placed an Order and received the item to find the first impression to be very unfavorable. At first glance, I saw scuff marks/scrapes on the outer lid of the laptop.....................this is not your $10 toy and it's supposed to be brand-new. I didn't even bother attaching the battery to test, just went straight online with another laptop to proceed for DOA return. One hour later.................still going around in circles but eventually managed to speak to someone by telephone who can actually actuate DOA procedures.

At this price point there's no other product for comparison and I've had worst transaction from DELL who knowingly sold laptops with the manufacture defective nVidia GE 8400M series GPU.

As this will be a present, I reordered the same product after placing a DOA because I believe the future owner will be very happy with this laptop. Hopefully they will put things to order and I will receive a non tarnished item.

    I like it.
