It looks pretty good but the Canadian price is ridiculous.

Item number T70-17002? I hope not.

i saw the ideapad Y510 (i believe) at a physical officedepot store the other day. it does looks nice. the veriface function is quite cool but i'd rather not use it. HP and other brands now have a very tough competitor

One thing I want to know: what video card do they have and why don't they use a more powerful one (I know they have one of the 8600M series)? It's a waste having such a nice computer with a slow video card (for a 17") and small resolution (since you will not be playing games due to the slow video card).

allfiredup Notebook Virtuoso
Only one configuration is available on TigerDirect.com at the moment. It appears to be a great deal ($1099.00) for all that's included, but it only has the T5450 Core 2 Duo.
I wonder when faster C2D CPUs will become available? And will these only be 'pre-configured' through retailers or will Lenovo offer direct, customized ordering similar to the ThinkPad? PLEASE, let it be the latter! -
In case some of you are not familiar with Tiger Direct, they are the devil.

allfiredup Notebook Virtuoso
I'd prefer to buy a notebook (or any computer) from the manufacturer if possible. It eliminates the middle man if there is a problem. I bought the Compaq-from-Hell back in 2000 at a CCity store. I spent the better part of a year fighting back and forth between the store, Compaq (long before HP) and the third party local repair facility they required me to use.
I learned my lesson the hard way. Going direct to Toshiba, Dell and HP has served me very well for system purchases....and hopefully Lenovo soon. -
It seems like a pretty good price with that specs, though I would wait for a review.
