I tried searching but I didn't come across anything relevant. Anyway, my question is about international warranty service in Australia for Lenovo laptops purchased in US. What is the official stance? Does anyone have any positive/negative experiences they can share?

I rang Lenovo authorised repair centre but they couldn't tell me about international warranty for US purchased laptop unless I give them machine type and serial number. Obviously I can't have machine type and serial number until I order it from US. I can't order from US until I have confirmation of international warranty. So catch 22 :(

    Many thanks for your help!

the international warranty coverage of oversea bought Thinkpads depend on the Type number of the machine, some gets Australia support, while some don't.

If you know the first 4 digits of the MTM then you can see the list of the countries that the machine is supported under for IWS.

If you are buying from a reseller, they can at least provide you with the 4 digits MTM number.

Or, find the model you are looking for in the Lenovo tabook, enter the first four digits and voila..

    Some considerations though:
    - IWS in some countries require a 'proof of import' (Did you pay taxes?)
    - A laptop purchased in the US with 'on site' warranty will only have 'depot' in any other country.

Seems like all variants of X220 and T420 have international warranty service in Australia.

    Thanks for your help!

The Bytecraft service centre that Lenovo uses will soon be replaced by another company.

I have never encountered a case where international warranty where available for that model number ever been denied by the Lenovo warranty services. For some odd models they may need to get the parts shipped from overseas, which may take up to 2 to 4 weeks to ship depend on parts availability.
