    Hi
I have a Lenovo 3000 Y500 series laptop (arround 11 months old). The laptop automatically stops (or shuts down) automatically.

Does anyone know the reason or the solution?

    Appreciate for your suggestions.
    Thanks in advance.

    Is this random?

    Try scanning for malware/viruses?

Yes do tell if it is a random occurrence. From the way you wrote your post it does seem as if it is random. Check for viruses/malware/adware. Also if you could list what kind of programs you are running it could help. It might be a series of updates that your computer is automatically downloading. There's just a few of the many possibilities for an issue like this. One last far-streched thing, its a bit out there but you may want to check for dust buildup on the cooling fan. Cleaning that off would help either way.
