    Hi,
    i recently bought Lenovo Legion 7 (2021).
During Lenovo Legion 2021 Event Q&A, Lenovo and Nvidia engineers said that Advanced Optimus is built in in all AMD Legions for 2021. Take a look at 1:29:10:

However in my Legion 7 (5800H, RTX 3060) Nvidia Control Panel shows that Advanced Optimus is not supported. I have as well Legion 5 2021 (5800H, RTX 3060) and in this laptop Advanced Optimus is supported and works as it should - i don't have to restart laptop to turn off hybrid mode and turn on dGPU directly connected to display.
I know that Legion 7 and 5 Pro have different display (2560x1600px, 165Hz, 500 nits) than Legion 5, but Legion 7i / 5i Pro (Intel) have same panel (2560x1600px, 165Hz, 500 nits) and support Advanced Optimus!
Does anyone else have similar problem? Is there any way to get Lenovo to keep its promise and add support for Advanced Optimus in Legion 7 / 5 Pro?
Do you think flashing VBIOS from Legion 7i could bring Advanced Optimus to Legion 7?

I doubt that would work. I don't think that would affect the iGPU which is Intel but I don't really know. Doesn't your model have a mux switch you can use? Probably less buggy than advanced optimus.

They promised Advanced Optimus on last year's models as well but it never happened. Missed opportunity for Lenovo there....

Do you have the option for Advanced Optimus on your 7i?

But Legion 7 has same iGPU, dGPU and display as laptops with working Advanced Optimus (same iGPU and dGPU as Legion 5 and screen as is in Legion 7i). So maybe flashing VBIOS from Legion 5 or Legion 7i will work?
Yes, Legion 7 has mux but after few days with Legion 5 with working Advanced Optimus I think that AO is way more convenient than turning on and off dGPU mode that needs to restart

Yeah, in nvidia control panel I have dgpu or optimus or auto. I always use mux though.

looks exactly like in Legion 5 with 5800H and RTX. But on Legion 7 (and 5 Pro i supose) there is no Manage Display Mode in Nvidia Control Panel
could you check the display panel id and manufacturer?

so the same panel is present in some Legion 7 variants. So i really can't understand why AO is not supported

I know it is on the 7i and I think probably the 7 but ask to make sure. Go to the discord server, In #General chat post @mod and a picture of your laptop and ask for Owner role. When they give it to you, you will be able to see #Legionfancontrolbeta. Go in there and you will find the download and more info. The Dev is very responsive if you have any trouble. https://discord.gg/v8UbU559
