Yes it is known that the fast and efficient ryzen 4000 mobile cpus are a big selling point on ryzen laptops, but the problem is that it is the ONLY selling point on these lenovo laptops, same as many other ryzen laptops.

The weak gpus and low quality screens are pushing buyers towards intel alternatives with stronger graphics and better screens.

Is the £800 model 120Hz, and is it any good? I don't care too much about colours, etc. more about low latency

Well... If u're not too concern about the RGB color accuracy, the refresh rate of the panel is just nice for the GPU.
My only concern, two fields of the configuration is not clear on detail that i suggest that u chat with the CSO to get clarification.
    1. 256GB NVME SSD, is that single 256 or 2x 128GB? Cos that affects the battery size that u should be concern of...
    2. ...yeah, 4cells, but no further details whether is it 60whr type or 80whr type. If it's 60whr, most likely the 256GB SSD is going to be a single stick, with SATA slot left empty for 2.5" SSD/HDD accommodation. If it's 80whr, the 256GB SSD might be 2x 128 total, letting the bigger battery taking up the 2.5" SATA slot.

Does anyone here have a vbios for the RTX 2070 Super Max-Q? I'm trying to find a 90 watt vbios right now compatible with the GS66, and I haven't found one with target power set at 90watts. I've flashed the Razer Blade Advanced vbios but it has target power limits at 80 watts. I also looked at the vbios from an Omen but there is a device id mismatch.

Linus just made a video reviewing the Legion 7i, I was pleasantly surprised that it's just 2.25kg making it the only thin and light 17 inch gaming laptop other than the GS75.

Having a proprietary charging port sucks though.

I saw that too, made no sense in that configuration but I would definitely go for the stronger graphics card (even if it's barely better). The 4600h is better than the i7-10750h and it was cheaper at 779 so that would definitely be the one I would opt for (if it wasn't sold out anyway)

Thanks for sharing. I will pick up the first one from my local Walmart today.
Don't worry about the difference between these two GPUs. The Lenovo SKU of the 4800h, non-ti version indicates they are using the recently refreshed GDDR6 variant. This refresh is identical to the previous 1650ti. My guess is they have left over stock of the 1650ti that needs to be moved through.

For folks shopping this model, look at Lenovo's custom configurator too. Both of the Walmart models linked above are equiped with the smaller 60wh battery, whereas Lenovo allows you to configure a 4600h model with an 80wh battery on their site for about $860. This config skips the 1TB hard drive, adds another SSD and includes a free upgrade to windows 10 pro. This should be good for another 2+ hours of battery life under light loads.

Yeah same here. Both GPUs uses GDDR6 but im still waiting for the 1660ti + RTX 2060 version

The one with the 4800H is still a great deal even with a slightly weaker GPU. The 4800H is sightly better than the i9-9980HK which is nuts especially at that price range!.

I'm preparing 2 sets of RAMs, and NVME SSD for a coming delivery as well as a planned purchase of a 17incher. The biggie may be a LEGION 5 by upping the spec to 4800H to 1660Ti, if not available, will likely goes to MSI BRAVO 17 with 4800H...

Oh don't get me wrong, I know how good the 4600H is, and I've been saying all along I'd love a cheaper Ryzen laptop with a 4600H + 1660Ti for gaming, because it's still plenty of CPU for the GPU.

    It was just surprising.

Should you had observed from the reviews from all other makes,
you'll see that the 4#00H processors heat climbs up quite rapidly when under stress.
With such slim profile... it looks appealing to those buyers who seeks aesthetic looks,
but to those who "understand" how limited and what kind of cons the Renoir CPUs possess...
they would rather go that little thicker build.

Has anyone tried G-Sync over the thunderbolt or USB-C? I want to get one and I will be mostly using it plugged in, but the mobility will be useful, so if it doesn't have G-Sync for the built in its not the end of the world, but if I can't get G-Sync on an external monitor that'll be a disaster!

Hi! I'm thinking of buying a Legion 5 or 7 and I'm wondering if the trackpad-surface is relatively smooth. I was about to get a HP Omen 15 but when I tried the trackpad my finger skipped on the surface a lot whenever I had a minimal amount of sweat on my fingers (never had this issue with my old laptop, although it has a glass trackpad). Do any of you have any similar experience from the Legion 5 or 7?

I read some sources that the Maximum of RAM is 16GBs so i hope you're right. I know when you configure both the Legion 5 and 7 Lenovo's site you can only configure them to 16GBs.

    My thoughts...
System performance should not be hurdled by the size of the RAM, having bigger "space" to accommodate different tasks in queue, is an allowance, not a limitation. The only limitation that we should be concerned of, is how fast the tasks are handled dependent on much power are sent to the RAMs to power up to do the jobs.
Taking the TongFang GK 5/7NR variants that sold around the globe with different badge as example... Not all of them are configured with 3200Mhz RAMs, and they are certainly not limited to just 16GB(dual channel added up).

Not slippery smooth as u would experienced from smartphone's swiping experience. I would compare the Legion 5's touchpad surface to those of old CDs. Where it seems polished, but when ur finger touches on, u feel no friction but not buttery smooth.

Definitely sounds like some sort of conspiracy, or Intel bribes being handed out. There's no other reason I can think of for these deliberate configuration restrictions to prevent the FAR superior Ryzen CPUs from having access to better hardware setups.

Speaking of which, can anyone with a Ryzen 4000 mobile based laptop check the PCI-E link speed of the gpu using GPU-Z? I've heard and read that the reason why ryzen mobile laptops never got a gpu faster than the RTX 2060 is because Ryzen 4000 mobile only has a x8 PCI-E link to the gpu and Nvidia didnt want to allow faster gpus to be used on the x8 PCI-E link.

Run a graphical load like unigene heaven to get the gpu out of idle and then take a screenshot of GPU-Z.

EDIT: Also ran the test on the T14 with Ryzen 5 Pro 4650U, best performance mode.

It's indeed limited to x8 speed. But this is not the main reason as x8 speed is still plenty even for highest end mobile GPU.

Yes I'm well aware of that.

But the fact remains that NVIDIA will not sell anything faster than a 2060 to be used in ryzen 4000 mobile laptops because they only have a PCI-E x8 link

    I'm on a Legion Y740-17 (i7 9750H, RTX 2080 Max-Q). I'm very happy with this laptop.

Would the Legion 7-15 (i7 10750H, RTX 2080 Super Max-Q) be a very insignificant upgrade? I'm tempted by going 15 inch for more portability.
