Looks promising.
This model is supposed to be out in April 2017 correct? -
Also of potential interest: To those who are looking for the 4K 3840x2160 resolution, the 4K model of this laptop has been confirmed at CES by reddit user /u/XBrav to use a true full RGB matrix 3840x2160 display, the same as the Lenovo Y700 before it.
This is in contrast to the old Lenovo Y50, the MSI GS63VR 4K, and the 15.6" Clevo/Sager laptops from most resellers offering the config option. All of those laptops use the RG/BW PenTile matrix to claim the resolution, something that is often considered to be a deceptive marketing practice. Offered 4K display is TRUE 4K!
Many laptops that claim the 4K UHD 3840x2160 resolution in 15.6" use RG/BW PenTile, which replaces the RGB in each pixel with either only RG or only BW, meaning the performance requirements are the same as 4K, but they can't actually show all of the detail.
But last year's Lenovo Y700 used a true RGB 4K UHD 3840x2160 display and, as confirmed at CES, the new Lenovo Y720 4K display is the same!
I would like to see 120Hz 1080p as an option, but for those of us who want 4K, this is great!

Nice Laptop!
Would be nice to see a 400-nits 120Hz G-Sync 1080p screen on this as an option... 4K looks great, but for gaming, no mobile GPU (unless SLI or desktop GPU amplifier added) can push those pixels for 60 FPS gaming with settings maxed. Ain't happening folks, with a GTX 1060 or even a GTX 1080 if it was an option.
I get that the 4K rez is not just for gaming, i.e. photo/vid editing, etc. but this is billed as a "gaming" laptop. Mobile GPU's are just not there yet.
Keep up the great work Lenovo!

Great
I really like the new Laptops but I was expecting something cheaper than this from Lenovo. Also.. I do not like the keyboard the keyboard on the Alienware is much better.

The top one ( Edit Onesevenfivefour) was me! Of course I don't own the computer, but was able to request someone at CES to check and confirm the type of display, as I mentioned in my post above. Thus, the information is based on an actual interaction with the computer that occurred at one point.
I'm disappointed in the FHD display though. Only 45% NTSC color gamut. Most GTX 1060 laptops this price are 72% NTSC.sicily428 likes this. -

A score of 84 doesn't seem that bad. Worth keeping an eye on.
But 'starting at seven pounds'...from the Lenovo site. Adds a bit of heft to a carry on.Last edited: May 29, 2017 -
