I was notified today (2/15/06) that my two customized z60m's (2529-GBU) shipped today too. One of them was scheduled to ship yesterday, but the est. ship date changed this morning to 3/9/06. I was just about to make an irate call Lenovo when I got the email that it shipped to day. Go figure. The other one was estimated to ship 2/17/06 but I also got a notice that it shipped today.

But the UPS shipment number is not available for either one yet. Given that the units were "packing" for weeks, do you think there's any chance that "shipped" doesn't actually mean the units have gotten out the door?

Based on my experience, Lenovo CAN cancel an order that's in "packing" status. I put a z60m (2529-EAU) on order on January 17 that got a ship date of 1/23, and immediately went into "packing" status. Then I got notified that it was delayed until 2/28/06. I emailed the rep and asked him to cancel it. It took him about 5 days to do so, but it apparently worked.

Now I'm waiting to see whether I got my money refunded. Despite Lenovo's claims that the credit card isn't charged until the device actually ships, my card got charged as soon as it went into "packing" status.

That was exactly what happened to my Ultrabay slim battery when it got shipped from Hong Kong. But at least I know I wont' have to wait a 2nd month for my laptop.

That sucks. I've had the software and ultrabay slim battery shipped right after my purchase (shipped separately, the former from So Cal, the latter from Hong Kong), and each item was charged only when shipped. I'll look at my statement right now, even though no tracking # is available for the laptop.

My two z60m's (2529-GBU) arrived this morning -- AMAZING! After all these delays, it's incredible they're here. I almost feel bad for doubting Lenovo's word when the status changed to "shipped"

Spend a grand total of 2 hours in Louisville. I guess the government has decided that computers don't carry bird flu and don't need to be quarantined.

Mind arrived this morning as well. Heard the last ring from the UPS guy half-asleep, and then sprinted downstairs in my boxers only to catch him at the door slapping on the missed delivery sticker

Luckily I caught him in time :p

I am NOT a happy camper right now.... AAAAGH. I think I found a dead/stuck pixel. It was bright white. When I played a DVD using InterDVD (came with it), it disappeared. Now it's black. So it must be a stuck pixel. AAAAGH!

UPDATE: Now I'm finding pixels left and right. Some pop up, some disappear, some are faint.... AAAAGH! Anyone know IBM's dead pixel policy? 8, perhaps?

Yup, I have the sharp 15" screen with the higher resolution, too. I think I found one dead one for sure (bluish, turquoise-ish). The other ones they come and go. This is so frustrating! My sales rep gave me the number to their tech support. If they even accept my return, I'd have to wait days to get it back (including shipping to and back).

Those are repair guidelines. If it is new, you still fall under the 30 day free return.

I thought I had a dead pixel in my new T43, turned out it was the image I had put up for wallpaper. my camera has a hot pixel that appears in long exposures, and that image had been about 25 seconds. somehow forgot to heal the pixel in photoshop when processing.

Hmm... My worry is, what if I get another one that has even more pixels? I don't want to have to return it over and over again... And my z60m is custom built, don't know if they're willing to just replace the LCD.

The 2 z60m's I had my hands on in the past week were both the swxga+ screen and no dead pixels.

You lucky dog! I'm taking my chances and had IBM issue an RMA. I'm replacing the same self-configured machine as I'm typing this. (I got put on hold, then when the sales rep returned, I somehow got disconnected.)

I found a great website that'll show you all the dead pixels you may not even know you had. I found some more out of curiosity: http://www.gdargaud.net/Hack/DeadPixels.html

I have to pay for return shipping as my laptop doesn't qualify as "defective". Oh well. :( Well worth it since I have at least 5+ dead/stuck pixels! With return shipping, I'm spending $80 just on shipping charges. Phone orders don't get free shipping. BOOOOO!

EDIT: Well, looks like I'm doing the waiting all over again. :) Est. shipment date: 3/14. Let's see if they'll beat that date like they did the last time. Don't know how I got 1-day express shipping from USP when my last invoice said Ground. I'm hoping I get lucky and get 1-day again. Don't want my baby stuff in customs!

What model of Z60m did you get? I have the 2530-38U model and I only have 1280 by 800 resolution.

    Thanks in advance!

As of April, there is still an ongoing issue with the shipping delays. I ordered a Z60m on March 3, and it still hasn't been shipped as of April 3. I've spoken to 7 or 8 different CSR's and I haven't gotten the same information from any 2 of them. I finally sent a letter to Lenovo's president, and received a call from their Executive Customer Relations area. They can't give me a date either. The only thing I know at this point is the delay is caused by problems obtaining the M24 chipset for the ATI X600 graphics.

Wonderful timing on their part, as the $100 rebate has to be postmarked soon, and the 30-day return policy covering the additional items I purchased (and received right away) expires soon. I have a wonderfully useless AC/DC adapter and USB to Serial adapter in a very nice, yet otherwise empty Thinkpad leather carrying case.

    Details here... http://www.knuckledragger.net/Thoughts/Thought20060321.htm

Hi all, I am new to this forum and I need some advice, I will appreciate any help.

I've been using an IBM for the past four years now with two different types. First I got the R40 than upgraded to a R51. These laptops were provided by my school on a lease basis. From time, I familiarized my self with the little red dot as my mean pointing device. I can not use any other brand except for IBM. In addition, of course I have experienced IBM's solid structure by dropping my R51 multiple times (accidentally) and it wasn't even scratched.

My question is this, I placed an order for the Z60T 6EU through the IBM EPP program with the help of a friend working there of course. I received an order confirmation number on April 26th. However, I have no clue on how to check my order status online. I guess it is different from retail. The confirmation email stated that it will be in shipping 2-3 weeks. What does that mean? I guess it won't be shipped till 2-3 weeks after? I need this laptop delivered within a month because I am leaving the country. Any advices will help.

    Thanks All

Yeah, I've had some trouble with Lenovo. I ordered a T60 on Aug. 10. It said it would ship on the 14th. Then the 14th came around and it got pushed back two more weeks to the 28th. This was a major problem as I ordered the computer through my college's mobile computing program which guaranteed that any order received by Aug 13 would be delivered prior to your arrival on campus (Sep 1). I called them up. The first time the guy said that it would actually ship on the 22nd, but someone would call within 24hrs with more info. I called again and this time some other guy said it was being built and would ship in a day or two. Well today the status changed to shipped! Hopefully it will not change back!

As I just posted on forums.thinkpads:

Those b@$$@rds did it! They changed my ship date from 8/16 to 9/7. School starts 9/8. Now, I actually have a laptop already...a 7lb one. So it's not like I have NOTHING, but that really burns my cookies. I'm calling them if for no other reason than to voice my opinion. According to posts I've read sometimes it can actually help. I ordered the bloody thing on 7/25! I guess they figured that for $700 off you wouldn't mind waiting. WRONG!

Anyone buying a Lenovo for school (grad school, in my case) should reconsider unless it is stock off the shelf with a guaranteed ship date. Otherwise, Lenovo feels no strong obligation to the customer. They think they can get by on their name alone. Ahhhh....but for HOW LONG?

It was the back-to-school X60s, with the free extra 512MB RAM. Yesterday I called Atkinns, my sales rep, and he said it was an LCD supply problem and that they expect it to go out this week. He said that he would monitor the status and notify me if there is any further change.

    x fingers crossed x

Hi all, I'm thinking of buying the Lenovo C100 online and was wondering if people had experience with lenovo's shipping in Canada, specifically preconfigured models. I'm ordering the c100 off of visaperks.ca, it's not even available on the lenovo site anymore. Does that mean there's a stockpile of c100 only for visa customers? If it doesn't ship in 2 weeks or so then I'm going to get a compaq v2710. Thanks for your help.

Ordered preconfigured T60 on Aug 11, got shipping date Aug 21 (10 days)

Today I am told they wont have it til friday Sept 8 (means I wont recieve it until more than a month after ordering).

I needed this by Sept 1. I cannot wait til mid-sept. So another lost sale.

    Follow-up:

I received my X60s (finally). I must say it's an impressive-looking machine. I still have to put it through its paces, but I really like the style. Mine says "IBM" in the lid, not "Lenovo." I like that, too.

SO, ordered it on 7/25. Shipped from Shanghai 8/22. Received in my hands 8/23 (left by the door, without signature. Lovely). I can't believe it - they must have changed the shipping to Express, because I received it in two days (technically less). Way to go, Lenovo. It took forever to build it, but at least I received it before school.

A dishonest person could do a c/card chargeback and successfully argue the case for money back.

Curious How do you like the screen? And the left mouse click?

I just ordered something different today that showed "in stock" with 2 remaining.
    Ship date is Sept 8...
I called and they said, oh well we have to build it but the parts are "in stock"

Well I ordered a z61t for school on Aug 3rd with scheduled ship date of Aug 22nd. They told me that I would definately recieve it before school started. Aug 22nd came and I recieved an email stating that the order would be delayed until an estimated ship date of Sept. 8 or maybe even up to 30 days after that. I called and had to cancel. Now I'm on the hunt once again, but I might just order one from cdw.com.

I discovered while ordering mine that the stock quantities shown on the Web are not in real time. Mine showed up as backordered. The rep assured me it was in stock. She was right.

Unbelievable, we've been purchasing Thinkpads for ourselves and our clients for over 7 years now (hundreds purchased) as well as recommending them to everyone we know. How things change... Due to my obsession with the Thinkpad A31P I've had for almost 4 years now, I found it hard to want a new machine - but with the new Core 2 Duo T60P coming out I finally gave in and placed an order for one of these on 11/1/06. The unit was originally scheudled for delivery on 12/1/06, but from my experience these machines always shipped quicker than they said they would - so I was pretty excited about getting it my Thanksgiving or something. As luck would have it, the machine did not arrive by Thanksgiving - and as I eagerly logged in on 12/1/06 to the Lenovo support site to retrieve my tracking number for shipping, I was dismayed to see that the date was change to 12/13/06. With so much going on, I decided it was worth the extra wait... until of course 12/13 rolled around, and the shipping date was yet again changed to 1/17/06 - this was too much - almost 2 and a half months to get a laptop, are they shipping these from China or something (sarcastic grin) In any case, I contacted several sales people and they all told me that the order was locked by the shipping department, but that shipping couldn't find the order. I had the case escalated and my order was supposedly put on the CRTITICAL LIST... I was promised over and over again that the order would arrive before the end of the year, even though no one could get any information from shipping... I was shocked and appalled at the service I was receiving, the sales reps were rude, totally un-apologetic and I still don't have my machine. To top it all off, no one on the Lenovo side will even return my phone calls or emails at this point and the sales line says that I can't cancel the order because it's been locked by shipping. Unbelievable... As much as I always loved Thinkpads, things have changed - IBM is no longer in charge and it's apparent that Lenovo does not care about customer service in the least. At this rate, I might see my machine in 2008 - but I've already stopped payment on my company account for this unit, so Lenovo isn't going to be seeing any money from me or my clients in the future...

ordered x60 t on 12/13/06 current estimated ship date is 2/13/07. Just for fun, I am probably going to see how long it takes to REALLY ship. Then send it back (without opening of course).

Same sort of thing happened to me. I REALLY wanted a notebook and decided on a T60p, but everything went wrong. Two days ago I finally cancelled the order and for now I'm done with Lenovo. First they sent me two screwed up systems, and then my exchange order got hung up in their system. They cancelled my order without telling me as well so my money just sat there. I don't know what to get now, I'm thinking of Asus. You can read about the ordeal here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=102860

Same frustration as you. I think my sales representative is an air-head. It all started because I decided to change my original order's 1 year protection warranty to 3 years. Then, she made a mistake and change my processor to a lower speed T7200 and denying that she changed it and saying it's the same as the original order. It was very obvious in two places the processor in the original order specifications I received by email and the total price was lowered by $400 than the original order. I had to write another email with proof that she was wrong. And one time when she tell me she will call me at 3pm, she completely misses it by hours and when she NEVER picks up the phone when I call many times. I had to leave a message and wait for the next day for a reply.

    Her Information:
Jennifer Deck, (866) 428-4465 ext. 34948, [email protected]

Then there was another mistake, read more here:

When I read the review about Asus V1JP I quickly decided and order it because it clearly has more features and value to the price. I ordered it few days after Lenovo's order and the ridiculous part was the Asus V1JP laptop (customized with T7600 cpu, 2GB 667Mhz ram, 100GB hard drive, and a module battery) already shipped out and coming to my house 3 days before my Lenovo T60P laptops. (To be cancelled and returned). For your information, two Lenovo T60P laptops are shipping to my house and one of them is a order mistake by the sales representative that did not cancel it.

Just piling on a little here, but I notice that the Lenovo site doesn't even work right. For the last week or so, there have been several broken links, especially if you try to follow the "special offers." Not very impressive.

And I also see that in in EPP areas, the offered machines come and go seemingly randomly on a daily basis. (e.g, Today there are no Z61 15.4" models; yesterday there was one; couple days go there were eight or so.) I assume this program is not actually that volatile and that this is some problem with keeping the site current.

In any case, Lenovo is starting to look like the gang that couldn't shoot straight. While system design or component supply chain problems may be hard to fix, this ongoing incompetence in the marketing and delivery areas seem emblematic of a poorly managed company.

Order from a third party Lenovo Vendor, on most systems you can get a better deal, quicker shipping, and responsive salespeople.

I'm having the same problems with Lenovo. I placed an order for a T60p along with a keyboard and mouse on May 1st. Originally, the keyboard was to ship on the 3rd, the mouse on the 8th, and the laptop on the 15th. On the 3rd, the keyboard got delayed until the 9th. I had read about Lenovo having pretty bad shipping estimates and I was hoping that it would not happen to me, but I had a sinking feeling. On the 8th, the mouse got delayed until the 28th! I gave Lenovo a call to see what was going on and they had no real explanation other than the date given was "worse case." They did say that the laptop was guaranteed to ship by the 15th though, so I was content, considering you don't need the keyboard and mouse to use the computer. When the 9th came, the keyboard did not ship, of course; it was delayed until the 29th! I gave them a call again and they were not very helpful at all. They basically read me what I was seeing online. I started to doubt that my laptop was actually going to ship on the 15th. When the 15th came, I checked my order status and the laptop, of course, got bumped back to the 17th. I thought that maybe there was a minor delay and thought that 2 days was not really a big deal, so I waited. It got delayed to the 24th, then the 29th! Well, today is the 29th and I checked my order status this morning and it was delayed again...this time to June 12th; about a month and a half after I placed the order! I called twice today. The first time I got no real answers. The second time I talked to the first nice representative I've had since I placed the order. He said that he guaranteed it would ship by the end of this week and I would have it in my hands by the 12th or he would rush the order and give me next-day shipping. As for my keyboard and mouse, he said that there are 410 and 500 in stock, respectively. He said that he had no idea why they never shipped but would make sure they got out tomorrow at the latest. I really hope I've gotten somewhere now. A month and half is waaayyyy too long to wait for a order, especially something this expensive. My cousin just ordered a customized comparable Dell on the 26th and it arrived today! I am so jealous. =P I really don't know what else to do. I feel as if I've waited too long to cancel my order now. This whole month of waiting and calling would go to waste. Any comments / suggestions?

Lenovo's shipping is a mess and their customer service doesn't really know what is going on. As far as I can tell they are about as informed as we are and in general Lenovo will not guarantee any delivery date. I would call and complain though because sometimes they will give you a discount. Just ask to file a formal complaint and tell them that you want to be financially compensated for the delays.

Yay! I can't believe it actually shipped! After waiting over a month Lenovo shipped my T60p this past Saturday and it's been sitting in Shenzhen, China for the last day or so. After calling and complaining about the delays, they expedited my shipping. I suppose it won't leave until Monday (next business day). It's supposed to arrive on Friday the 8th but I have a feeling it may get hung up in customs so I'm anticipating Monday the 11th or Tuesday the 12th. What do guys you think? Do notebooks get hung up in customs often?

Yup. Who knows, the laptop might contain a bomb or house a Chinese spy or something.
